Gadkari Criticizes Government Inefficiency, Advocates for Private Partnerships in Sports Infrastructure

Nitin Gadkari stated that the government is inefficient and nothing should be given away for free. He emphasized the need for private partnerships for sports stadiums in Nagpur.

Maharashtra: Union Minister for Road Transport, Nitin Gadkari, delivered a passionate and candid speech at the 'Sports as a Career' program in Nagpur. He stated that politics is a kind of addiction that weakens a person's ability to think and understand. Gadkari clearly stated that power, wealth, and beauty are never permanent; they are all fleeting.

According to Gadkari, everyone praises you when you are having good days, but no one even asks about you in bad times. He advised the youth to understand this reality and move forward in their lives with honesty and hard work.

Sharp Criticism of the Government's Functioning

During the program, Gadkari also questioned the government's policies and systems. He said that based on his four years of experience, he can say that the government is a very inefficient thing. He criticized corporations, saying that they cannot be trusted because they work to "puncture even a moving car."

Gadkari said that he has a desire to build 300 sports stadiums in Nagpur, but this dream is not being realized due to the government system. He also questioned the complexities and slow pace of the government tender process during this time.

New Model for Sports Infrastructure

Gadkari mentioned a conversation with a businessman in Dubai, stating that he saw a successful model of a sports stadium there. He said that such a model needs to be adopted in India as well. According to him, the government can issue tenders and give land to private entities for 15 years. The government will construct lighting, galleries, and basic infrastructure, but the maintenance will be done by private entities.

In return, a nominal fee ranging from ₹100 to ₹500 can be charged from children participating in sports activities. Gadkari said that it is necessary for us to get out of the mentality of teaching everything for free.

'Politics is a market of freeloaders, I don't give anything for free'

In his speech, Nitin Gadkari stated very clearly that in politics, everything is expected to be obtained for free. He said that it is a 'market of freeloaders,' but he doesn't give anything for free. He said this while underlining the importance of youth's career and hard work.

Gadkari told the youth that in any career, it is important to move forward with hard work and honesty. A freebie mentality cannot bring long-term success.

Described Himself as a 'Financial Expert'

During the program, Gadkari described himself as a 'financial expert,' saying that he can start projects worth ₹5 lakh crore without giving any money. He said that he knows how to implement schemes and how to manage resources. However, he also clarified that he is not a financial advisor or chartered accountant.
