ICC Announces December 2025 Player of the Month Nominees

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the nominees for the December 2025 Player of the Month Award, with players from West Indies, New Zealand and Australia shortlisted.

No Indian player features in the nominations. The three shortlisted players earned selection based on their performances during the month across Test cricket.

Justin Greaves of West Indies delivered notable performances in Test matches during the New Zealand tour. In the three-match Test series, Greaves scored 283 runs at an average of 56.60. His highest contribution came in the fourth innings of the first Test in Christchurch, where he scored a double century, helping West Indies secure a draw. Alongside his batting, Greaves also contributed with the ball, taking five wickets in the series.

New Zealand fast bowler Jacob Duffy is the second nominee following his performance against West Indies in December 2025. Duffy took 23 wickets in the Test series, contributing to New Zealand’s 2-0 series victory. In 2025, he claimed a total of 79 wickets, surpassing a record held by Dennis Lillee.

Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc is the third nominee after his performances in the 2025–26 Ashes series against England. In the five-match series, Starc took 31 wickets across 10 innings. He also contributed with the bat, scoring 77 runs in the Brisbane Test and 54 runs in the Adelaide Test. In 2025, Starc took 55 wickets in 11 Test matches.
