The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for parts of Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh, forecasting heavy rainfall exceeding 15 mm per hour, accompanied by thunderstorms.

Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings across several parts of North and Central India due to heavy rainfall and the potential for associated disasters. Red alerts have been issued for Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh, while orange and yellow alerts are in place for Delhi, Bihar, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and other states. Meteorologists advise caution over the next 2-3 days due to extreme rainfall and b winds expected in many states.

Red Alert in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh: Warning of Torrential Rain

According to the IMD, Delhi is expected to experience generally cloudy skies with moderate rainfall until September 2. Thunderstorms are anticipated on September 3, with rain and showers possible on September 4 and 5. In Uttar Pradesh, a red alert has been issued for Lucknow, Hapur, Muzaffarnagar, Barabanki, Saharanpur, Meerut, Bijnor, Rampur, Kheri, Bahraich, Bareilly, Farrukhabad, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Pilibhit, Amethi, and Prayagraj on September 2.

These areas are likely to receive torrential rain at a rate of 15 mm per hour. The meteorological department has advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel and stay in safe locations.

Heavy Rainfall and Strong Winds Alert in Bihar and Uttarakhand

The Meteorological Centre in Patna has issued a warning for rain and lightning in East Champaran, West Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, and Samastipur on September 2. Winds are expected to blow at speeds of 30-40 kilometers per hour in these districts.

A red alert has been issued for Dehradun and Tehri Garhwal in Uttarakhand. Heavy rainfall is anticipated in Uttarkashi, Bageshwar, Champawat, and Chamoli. On September 1, the meteorological department ordered the closure of all schools and anganwadi centers in Dehradun, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Almora, Pauri, and Chamoli. Officials have urged the public to exercise caution.

Heavy Rainfall Alert in Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh

Red alerts have been issued for the districts of Sirmaur, Shimla, Kangra, Mandi, and Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh. Heavy rainfall warnings are also in effect for Una, Solan, Bilaspur, Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, and Chamba. In Madhya Pradesh, heavy rainfall is expected on September 2 in Katni, Umaria, Shahdol, Dindori, Khandwa, Rajgarh, Ujjain, Ratlam, and Shivpuri. The meteorological department has instructed people to stay indoors unless necessary and remain in safe locations during this period.

Alert in Rajasthan: Warning of Heavy Rainfall and Strong Winds

A heavy rainfall alert has been issued for the districts of Alwar, Bharatpur, Dholpur, Dausa, Baran, Chittorgarh, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, and Bhilwara in Rajasthan on September 2. Gujarat and Maharashtra are expected to experience continuous rain for the next week. Low-lying areas in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, are at risk of waterlogging. Mumbai and surrounding areas have also received heavy rainfall warnings. Officials have advised city residents to stay in safe places and avoid areas prone to waterlogging.
