The monsoon has once again picked up pace across the country. Many parts of the country have been experiencing continuous or intermittent rainfall for the past 24 hours. Due to heavy rainfall, the water levels of rivers have risen in several states, potentially leading to flood-like situations.
Weather Update: The monsoon has become fully active across the country, and heavy rainfall continues in several states. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for July 16 for several states, including UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Warnings of flood risk, rising river water levels, and lightning strikes have also been issued in many areas. People are advised to be particularly cautious and avoid unnecessary travel.
Heavy Rainfall Warning in More Than 15 Districts of UP
Heavy rainfall is expected in several districts of Uttar Pradesh within the next 24 hours. There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in several districts, including Muzaffarnagar, Moradabad, Pilibhit, Bijnor, Saharanpur, Raebareli, Rampur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Hardoi, Siddharth Nagar, Lucknow, Gonda, Barabanki, Kanpur, Fatehpur, Kaushambi, Mau, Deoria, Basti, and Gorakhpur.
The weather department has issued an alert for rainfall accompanied by lightning and b winds. People are advised to avoid going out in the open during rain and not to stand under mobile towers, electricity poles, or trees.
Heavy Rainfall Alert in 7 Districts of Bihar
The weather has also taken a severe turn in Bihar. There is a possibility of heavy rainfall and lightning strikes in Kaimur, Rohtas, Bhojpur, Buxar, Aurangabad, and Arwal districts. The administrations of these districts have also appealed to people to exercise caution and stay indoors. Furthermore, light to moderate rainfall is expected in East Champaran, West Champaran, Siwan, Gopalganj, Saran, Patna, Nalanda, Nawada, and Jamui districts.
Weather Conditions in Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir
Extremely heavy rainfall is expected in Jammu and Kashmir and eastern Rajasthan on July 16. Heavy rainfall is also possible in Uttarakhand on July 17, 20, and 21. A warning of heavy rainfall has been issued for western Rajasthan on July 16 and eastern Uttar Pradesh on July 16 and 17. Continuous rainfall is expected in Madhya Pradesh between July 16 and 19. Heavy rainfall and lightning strikes are expected in Chhattisgarh, Bihar, and Jharkhand between July 16 and 17.
Additionally, rainfall is expected in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on July 16. The rain will continue in Odisha, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim between July 16 and 21.
Rain Fury in Maharashtra and Goa
Heavy rainfall is expected in Konkan and Goa on July 16, 20, and 21. Rainfall alerts are issued for the ghat areas of central Maharashtra on July 20 and 21. The administration has advised local citizens and tourists to avoid traveling to the hilly areas. There is a possibility of rain in various parts of Gujarat on July 16.
According to the weather department, disasters such as landslides may occur in Konkan and the ghat areas of central Maharashtra due to heavy rainfall, so people have been asked to remain alert. Light to moderate rainfall will continue in several parts of Gujarat and Maharashtra in the next 5 days. The weather department has stated that residents of areas where river water levels have risen need to be vigilant, go to higher places, and follow the advice of the administration.
Due to the rapid increase in cases of lightning strikes, people are advised not to go out in the open and to stay in safe places. Especially farmers and laborers should currently avoid working in the fields.
