The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, has shared a "Do's and Don'ts" list for citizens aimed at making government services more transparent and accessible.
New Delhi: Amidst a surge of rumors and misinformation on social media regarding Operation Sindur, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) of the Government of India has taken proactive measures. On Friday, the ministry issued a special advisory for citizens, aiming to strengthen cybersecurity and prevent the spread of false information.
The advisory, disseminated through X (formerly Twitter) and other digital platforms, urges citizens to engage with social media responsibly, patriotically, and vigilantly.
Why this advisory?
Numerous reports and rumors regarding Operation Sindur, a recent Indian Army operation, have been circulating on social media. Many of these reports are deemed untrue, misleading, and sensitive to national security. The central government has taken this step to prevent the public from being misled by rumors and to prioritize national interests in the digital sphere.

It protects the dream of Digital India, where the internet is a source of information, not rumors.
