New Round of Talks Begins

Key issues related to trade partnership and the bilateral trade agreement were discussed. Both countries clarified that trade relations are their priority and efforts will be intensified to reach a concrete conclusion soon.

Talks Had Stalled Previously

Some time ago, the ongoing negotiations between India and the United States had stalled. A major reason for this was America's demand for greater access for US companies to India's agricultural and dairy markets. India had refused to accept this demand, leading to the halt in talks. Now, both sides have shown an intention to resume negotiations. It was decided at the meeting on Tuesday that efforts will be made to complete the first phase of the bilateral trade agreement by November.
