Kangana Ranaut Backs Voter List Revision in Bihar Amidst Opposition Uproar

In Bihar, the opposition is attacking the Voter List Revision (SIR), while Kangana Ranaut and the BJP have described it as a constitutional and necessary process. The Election Commission has removed the names of 6.5 million fake or deceased voters. The opposition alleges that specific groups are being targeted.

Kangana Ranaut: While the opposition is attacking the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of the voter list in Bihar, BJP MP from Mandi and actress Kangana Ranaut has openly taken the government's side and bly criticized the opposition. Kangana said that this process is not new; such voter list revision processes have been conducted 20 to 25 times even during the Congress regime. So, why is the opposition troubled when the current government is repeating the same process according to the constitution?

Uproar in Parliament over SIR, Kangana Clarifies

Recently, during the monsoon session of Parliament, the opposition created a massive uproar regarding the ongoing SIR process in Bihar. Opposition parties allege that the government is targeting specific groups through this process and that voters are being removed on a large scale in the name of "voter cleansing." Amidst this uproar, Kangana Ranaut, while interacting with the media, said, 'SIR is a constitutional and transparent process that has been conducted many times before. Congress governments have also done it 20-25 times during their time. So why the uproar now?'

'The country will suffer if SIR is not done': Kangana

Kangana Ranaut further said that this process has not been done properly for many years, due to which the possibility of fake voting remains in Bihar and other parts of the country. She said: 'We ourselves should demand that the voter list be purified. This will reveal who is an Indian citizen and who has come and settled illegally. Voting is a constitutional right, but this right should only be available to the citizens of India.'

Sarcasm at the opposition: 'Lowering the dignity of the House'

Kangana Ranaut also criticized the opposition parties' demonstration in Parliament. She said that the opposition is making a mockery of democracy and is hurting the dignity of Parliament. Kangana said: 'When issues related to public interest should be discussed in the House, the opposition is engaged in sloganeering and walkouts. This makes it clear that they are not concerned about the country, but only about their own politics.'

Election Commission releases data: 6.5 million names removed

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has also released the first phase data of the ongoing SIR process in Bihar. According to the released data, now 72.4 million voters are registered in Bihar. During this period, the names of about 6.5 million voters have been removed. The names removed include those who are either

  • Deceased
  • Moved out of the state
  • Or are foreign nationals who had their names added incorrectly.

The Election Commission has clarified that this action has been taken completely under the rules and based on evidence.

BJP: An important step towards transparent elections

BJP leaders have also supported the SIR process, saying that it is an important step towards cleaning and strengthening democracy. BJP spokespersons alleged that the opposition is only creating a ruckus because it knows that if fake voters are removed, its voter base may weaken.

Opposition alleges: 'Specific class is being targeted'

On the other hand, opposition parties say that this process has become a tool to target certain classes in the name of transparency. RJD, Congress and Left parties have jointly alleged that more names are being removed in Muslim and Dalit dominated areas, due to which the people there will be deprived of their democratic rights.
