He stated that the Congress is completely united and their priority is focused on winning the 2028 Assembly elections.

No Recommendations Needed, Discipline Essential

D.K. Shivakumar said that he does not need any recommendations from any MLA. He made it clear that his main objective is to maintain party discipline. He said, "I do not want anyone to support me or make statements in my favor. We will resolve problems through discussion and strengthen the party."

2028 Assembly Elections are the Agenda

The Deputy CM further stated that his focus is on the upcoming local body elections and especially the 2028 Assembly elections. He said that no changes have been made in the leadership and they are working according to the party's instructions.

Reaction to Rebellious Voices

In recent days, some MLAs of the party had demanded a change in leadership. In this context, Congress MLA Iqbal Hussain stated that D.K. Shivakumar should be made the Chief Minister. He expressed his opinion, citing internal democracy within the party, and said that the party could suspend him if it wished. D.K. Shivakumar, without giving any personal reaction to this, only said that discipline is the most important thing and action would be taken against those who are speaking out more.

Targeting the Central Government on Rail Fare Hike

Addressing another issue, D.K. Shivakumar targeted the central government. He said that the center has increased the burden of inflation on the common man. He said that the public is being troubled by increasing petrol, diesel, and now rail fares. He asked BJP leaders to respond on this issue and said that the Congress will stand with the common people.

Randeep Surjewala's Meetings

Randeep Singh Surjewala, in charge of Congress affairs in Karnataka, recently held a meeting with the MLAs. He clarified that this meeting was not for leadership change, but to assess the work done in the constituencies of the MLAs. He said that the party is assessing the performance at the ground level so that it can contest the upcoming elections bly.
