Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann laid the foundation stone for 3100 sports stadiums in Punjab. These stadiums, costing ₹1194 crore, will keep rural youth away from drugs and provide sports opportunities.
Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann created history by laying the foundation stone for 3100 sports stadiums. This initiative has been taken to promote sports and fitness, especially for the youth in villages. Previously, large stadiums were limited to cities, but the Mann government has, for the first time, opened the way to provide sports opportunities in villages.
Modern Sports Stadiums in Villages
Each stadium will feature tracks for volleyball, football, hockey, and athletics. Additionally, separate grounds will be allocated for local sports. The government will provide sports equipment in these stadiums. The responsibility for the maintenance and operation of the stadiums has been entrusted to village youth clubs, ensuring that young people can regularly benefit from these facilities.
For young athletes, these stadiums will be an opportunity to hone their talent. Bhagwant Mann stated that in the coming times, national and international level players and captains will emerge from the villages of Punjab.
Strong Campaign Against Drugs
A strict campaign against drugs has been ongoing in Punjab for the past few months. The Mann government has used bulldozers to seize properties of major drug traffickers and has sent many to jail. This has sent a clear message that no drug trafficker will be spared in Punjab.
Under this campaign, those who once considered themselves invincible are now in jail. This step has been taken to protect youth from drug addiction and inspire them towards a healthy and active lifestyle.
Giving New Direction to Youth Through Sports and Education
The Mann government has ensured that sports stadiums serve not only for sports but also as a medium for the overall development of youth. In Punjab, 55,000 government jobs have been provided solely based on merit, and opportunities for over four lakh private jobs are opening up.
Furthermore, a program to teach entrepreneurship will be run in colleges. Students will be given opportunities to pursue business alongside their studies, so they can become job creators rather than job seekers.
