Devotee access at the Khatu Shyamji Temple in Sikar, Rajasthan, will remain suspended from the night of April 22 until the evening of April 23 due to special tilak shringar and traditional service rituals.
According to temple authorities, the sanctum sanctorum and darshan arrangements will remain completely closed during this period to allow the religious ceremonies to be conducted in accordance with prescribed rituals.
As per the official schedule, darshan for devotees will be closed from 10 pm on April 22 and will resume only after 5 pm on April 23. During this period of approximately 19 hours, devotees will not be able to visit the temple.
Authorities confirmed that normal darshan will resume after the completion of the rituals at the निर्धारित time on April 23 evening.
On this occasion, a special tilak shringar of Baba Shyam will be performed, which holds religious significance. Traditional पूजा-अर्चना and rituals will be conducted within the temple premises following established customs.
Only priests and authorised temple servants will be allowed to participate in these ceremonies.
The Shri Shyam Temple Committee has issued an official notification regarding the temporary closure. Committee minister Manvendra Singh Chauhan stated that the event is organised annually on specific occasions, during which the temple remains closed to devotees.
He said that all rituals will be conducted in accordance with religious traditions.
Temple authorities have appealed to devotees from across the country to plan their visits in accordance with the scheduled closure timings.
The committee stated that prior awareness of the darshan suspension is necessary to avoid inconvenience during the closure period.
Authorities also clarified that the temple gates will reopen as per normal schedule after 5 pm on April 23.
The Khatu Shyamji Temple is a prominent religious site visited by large numbers of devotees. The temple is associated with the worship of Lord Shyam (Barbarik), who is revered as Shyam Baba.
Every year, devotees from across India and abroad visit the temple, particularly during the Kartik and Phalgun months when large gatherings are organised.
Temple authorities periodically regulate darshan arrangements during special पूजा and festivals to ensure the smooth conduct of rituals and effective crowd management.
During such occasions, arrangements are made to maintain security and manage crowds.
The special tilak shringar and service rituals are considered an integral part of the temple’s traditions. Authorities stated that the process is conducted strictly according to Vedic rituals, with emphasis on maintaining purity and tradition.
