A significant step has been taken regarding the 27% OBC reservation in Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav convened an all-party meeting at his residence, where all parties unanimously stated that the OBC वर्ग will receive 27% reservation under all circumstances.
MP News: This meeting was attended by all major parties including BJP, Congress, Samajwadi Party, Aam Aadmi Party, and Communist Party of India. It was also decided in the meeting that all parties and lawyers will now come together on one platform to formulate their strategy for the ongoing case in the Supreme Court, ensuring that no candidate is deprived of their rights and the benefits of reservation are received on time.
Hearing to begin in Supreme Court from September 22
After the meeting, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav told the media that the daily hearing in this matter will commence in the Supreme Court from September 22. He informed that until now, different lawyers were presenting different arguments in this case, due to which a consensus could not be reached. However, it has now been decided that before September 10, all lawyers will sit together, prepare a joint strategy, and present their arguments in court with a unified stance.
Complete Timeline of OBC Reservation to Date
The entire episode began on March 8, 2019, when the government decided to increase OBC reservation from 14% to 27% through an ordinance. On August 14, 2019, the Assembly gave it the form of law. Following this, a new roster was issued on December 24, 2019. However, due to several petitions, the High Court Jabalpur issued a stay order on this roster on May 4, 2022. Subsequently, recruitment for MPPSC, PEB, and TET was also halted, and the implementation of reservation got stuck. Now, the Supreme Court hearing is expected to bring a final decision soon.
How Many Candidates Will Be Affected by 27% Reservation
CM Mohan Yadav stated that out of the candidates whose recruitments were previously on hold and un-hold, the matter concerning 14% has been resolved, but the case of 13% candidates is still pending. The government desires that the court deliver a swift decision on this matter so that candidates approaching the age limit can also participate in the recruitment process and receive the benefit of employment. The Chief Minister said that no eligible candidate should be deprived of a job solely due to legal technicalities.
United Resolve of All Parties
In this meeting, all opposition parties, including BJP and Congress, clearly stated that there is no dispute regarding the provision of 27% reservation. All parties have also expressed their support for this in the Assembly at their respective levels. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that this is not the time for political differences, but to unite and fight for the rights of OBC candidates.
