Major Mobile Network Outage Disrupts Services Across India

New Delhi: On Monday evening, thousands of mobile users across the country faced a major problem when the mobile network of several companies went down simultaneously. Initially, news came that Airtel's network was the most affected, but after a while, customers of Jio and Vodafone-Idea (Vi) also complained of the problem.

Most Affected in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru

According to reports, network issues were most prevalent in major cities like Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Users were unable to make calls or use the internet. According to outage tracking website Downdetector, the problem with Airtel started around 3:30 pm and service gradually started returning to normal by 5:30 pm.

Airtel Users Faced the Most Problems

Thousands of users were affected by the Airtel network outage. More than 3,000 complaints were registered from Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru alone. At the same time, about 200 Jio and about 50 Vi users also reported network problems. Problems were also seen in cities like Chandigarh, Lucknow, and Patna, apart from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru.

Flood of Complaints on Social Media

After the network outage, there was a flood of complaints on Twitter (X). Many users expressed their displeasure in a humorous manner. One user wrote – “Airtel is down in Delhi? For the past one hour, my wife has been thinking that I am ignoring her calls. Thank you Airtel, for turning a network problem into a marriage problem.”

What did the Companies Say?

Airtel admitted that there was a technical glitch in its network and immediate action was taken to fix it. At the same time, Jio clarified that its network was working normally. According to Jio, the problem only arose when their users made calls to networks that were already experiencing downtime.
