Maruti Suzuki is set to launch its first electric car, the e-Vitara, on September 3, 2025. It will be offered with 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery pack options, providing a range of 344 to 426 km. The car will feature premium features, an ADAS safety package, and DC fast charging support.
New Delhi: After a long wait, Maruti Suzuki is launching its first electric car, the e-Vitara, in the Indian market. The company has announced that production will begin on August 26, 2025, and the launch will take place on September 3, 2025. The car will be offered with two battery packs, 49 kWh and 61 kWh, with a WLTP range of 344 to 426 km. It includes a modern design, a dual-screen dashboard, a panoramic sunroof, and advanced safety features like ADAS. With a DC fast charger, it can charge up to 80% in just 45 minutes.
Modern Design
Maruti has tried to give the e-Vitara a stylish and modern look. The front features LED projector headlights and Y-shaped LED DRLs. In addition, the front fog lamps and sharp grille design give the car a robust appearance.
The side profile features black cladding and large 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels. The car is specifically designed keeping young people in mind. It will be special for those who want to enjoy an electric drive with an SUV look.
Premium Feel in the Interior
Stepping inside the car, one feels its premium look and technology. It features a dual-spoke steering wheel and a dual-screen dashboard setup. On one side, there is a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and on the other side, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. In addition, rectangular air vents, an auto-dimming IRVM, a wireless charging station, and an electronic parking brake make it even more high-tech.
Special attention has also been paid to the seating. Semi-leatherette seats, ventilated front seats, and a 10-way power-adjustable seat for the driver are provided. The panoramic sunroof creates a spacious and luxurious feel inside the car.
Advanced Safety Features
Maruti has left no stone unturned in making the e-Vitara safe. It includes seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, and an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) package. These features will ensure complete safety during driving.
Multiple Power and Range Options
Maruti will launch the e-Vitara with two battery pack options: a 49 kWh battery pack and a 61 kWh battery pack. The 49 kWh battery comes with front-wheel drive. It generates 142 bhp of power and 193 Nm of torque. According to WLTP, it can travel up to 344 kilometers. The 61 kWh battery will be available in two options: one with front-wheel drive and the other with all-wheel drive.
The front-wheel-drive variant delivers 171 bhp of power and 193 Nm of torque, and its range goes up to 426 kilometers. The all-wheel-drive variant generates 181 bhp of power and 307 Nm of torque. Its range is expected to be around 395 kilometers.
Multiple Battery Charging Options
Maruti has also made the e-Vitara quite flexible in terms of charging.
- The 49 kWh battery can be fully charged in about 6.5 hours with a 7 kW AC charger and in 4.5 hours with an 11 kW charger.
- The 61 kWh battery can be fully charged in nine hours with a 7 kW charger and in 5.5 hours with an 11 kW charger.
- If a DC fast charger is used, both battery packs can be charged up to 80 percent in just 45 minutes.
When Will This Car Be Available?
Maruti has clarified that production of the e-Vitara will begin on August 26, 2025. It will be officially launched on September 3, 2025. Bookings are likely to begin immediately after the launch.
