Mathura, September 29, 2025 — In Mathura district's Jainth police station area, Hazari Lal, a regional Lekhpal (revenue official), was immediately suspended by the District Magistrate due to negligence during duty. This action was taken after DM C.P. Singh conducted a surprise inspection and found the Lekhpal absent.
What Happened
The Lekhpal was not present during the DM's inspection. When summoned, he arrived very late. Upon arriving late, he presented himself wearing jeans and a shirt, without his uniform or documents. When asked for revenue records (Khatoni, maps, etc.), he was unable to produce them. This severely affected the inspection.
Administrative Action
The DM suspended the Lekhpal on charges of negligence. The Lekhpal was de-linked from the Bhulekh (land records) computer office of Tehsil Mathura. The Tehsildar of Mathura has been appointed as the inquiry officer and ordered to submit a report within one month.
Background
A white shirt and blazer uniform had been made mandatory for Lekhpals in the Revenue Department, but non-compliance is often observed. This incident once again highlights the demand for accountability and strict discipline within the administration.
