Sports News: Meerut Mavericks defeated Noida Kings by 41 runs in the 14th match of the UP T20 League 2025. In this match played at Lucknow's Ekana Stadium, the Meerut team batted first and set a b score of 184/7 in 20 overs. The team had an aggressive start, with Swastik Chikhara hitting Kunal Tyagi for two sixes and a four in the very first over, scoring 21 runs. After this, Noida's bowlers, especially Naman Tiwari and Prashant Veer, bowled well in the powerplay and tried to bring the match back into their control.
However, the real hero for Meerut was Divyansh Rajput, who scored a blistering half-century and gave the team's score a solid foundation. Chasing the target, the Noida Kings team could not stand up to the Meerut bowlers and lost the match by 41 runs, falling behind in the stipulated overs.
Meerut Mavericks Innings
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Meerut Mavericks got off to a flying start. Opener Swastik Chikhara smashed Noida's fast bowler Kunal Tyagi for two sixes and a four in the very first over of the innings, scoring a total of 21 runs. However, after the powerplay, Noida's bowlers Naman Tiwari and Prashant Veer bowled tightly and put Meerut under pressure.
In the middle overs, the team's situation deteriorated slightly. Rituraj Sharma (34 runs) and Madhav Kaushik tried to handle the scoreboard, but Kaushik's run-out and Rituraj's dismissal put the team on the back foot. Meanwhile, captain Rinku Singh also returned to the pavilion after scoring just 10 runs. By the 14th over, Meerut's score was 110/5 and it seemed that the team would not be able to score a big total.
Divyansh Rajput's Storm
In this difficult situation, young batsman Divyansh Rajput took charge. Coming in to bat at number 6, Rajput initially played intelligently and stayed at the wicket. After that, he changed gears and played some explosive shots. Rajput scored an unbeaten 53 runs in just 25 balls. His innings was filled with a flurry of fours and sixes, and he disrupted the rhythm of the opposition bowlers. He was well supported by Hritik Vats (24 runs) who added a 60-run partnership and strengthened the innings.
In the last four overs, Meerut Mavericks added 60 runs. Especially, Yash Garg scored 13 runs in five balls and hit three consecutive fours in the last over to take the team to 184/7.
Noida Kings Innings
Chasing the target of 185 runs, Noida Kings had a very poor start. Left-arm spinner Vishal Choudhary gave a big blow in the very first over, dismissing captain Shivam Choudhary and Priyanshu Pandey on consecutive balls. This reduced Noida's score to 0/2 and the team came under pressure. Anivesh Choudhary (9 runs) was also dismissed as the third wicket. After this, Ravi Singh tried to increase the run rate by playing some aggressive shots, but the Meerut bowlers did not allow runs to be scored with accurate line and length.
Prashant Veer (39 runs) and Karan Sharma (37 runs) tried to handle the Noida innings. Both together added a 75-run partnership and tried to bring the team back into the match. However, under pressure to increase the run rate, both had to play big shots and eventually lost their wickets. Kartik Tyagi dismissed Karan Sharma on the last ball of the 19th over, which completely shattered Noida's hopes.
Zeeshan Ansari's Deadly Bowling
The biggest impact on Noida's batting was the bowling of Meerut's spinner Zeeshan Ansari. Zeeshan, who proved to be expensive in the initial matches, did wonders this time. He took three wickets in the last over and took a total of 4 wickets. Vishal Choudhary took 2 wickets for 16 runs in three overs, while Kartik Tyagi also took 2 wickets (for 28 runs). The Meerut bowlers kept Noida under pressure from start to finish. Eventually, Noida Kings could only score 143/9 in 20 overs and lost the match by 41 runs.
