Ahilya Bai Holkar: A Source of Inspiration

PM Modi began his speech by recalling the personality and contributions of Lokmata Ahilya Bai. He stated that 250-300 years ago, when India was shackled by the chains of slavery, Ahilya Bai, through her courage and determination, not only enhanced the prosperity of her state but also preserved the nation's culture and heritage. Her work in supporting the poor and rebuilding temples and pilgrimage sites continues to inspire us today.

PM Modi also said that Ahilya Bai's life teaches that with b willpower and determination, no challenge is insurmountable. He mentioned in his address that Ahilya Bai also took several important steps for women's rights, such as emphasizing the appropriate age for daughters' marriage and granting widows the right to remarry. This was far ahead of the thinking of that era, when even discussing women's rights was considered difficult.

Special Emphasis on Women's Empowerment

PM Modi stated that today's government is working by adopting the principles of Lokmata Ahilya Bai. Quoting the mantra 'Nagarigo Devo Bhavaḥ,' he emphasized every citizen's duty to serve society. He explained that women are at the heart of all government schemes. Modi shared that the government launched a special campaign to open bank accounts for women, resulting in over 30 crore women opening accounts. This facilitates direct benefit transfer of schemes to women.

Over 75% of the beneficiaries in the Mudra Yojana are women, demonstrating progress in women's empowerment. PM Modi, mentioning the passing of the Women's Reservation Bill, stated that reservation for women in Parliament is now secured, enabling their equal participation at every level.

Women's Safety and the Glory of Matrishakti

PM Modi mentioned that while Western countries question the rights of Indian women, history bears witness to India's long-standing tradition of empowering women. He highlighted the inclusion of women in the army 250-300 years ago and the formation of women's safety squads as significant steps that remain inspirational today.

PM Modi also mentioned Operation Sindhur, India's largest and most successful operation against terrorists. BSF women were at the forefront of this operation, displaying exceptional bravery. He stated that our daughters are now fighting on the front lines not only in the army but also in the navy and air force.

He mentioned that the first batch of women cadets has graduated from the National Defence Academy (NDA), exemplifying the increasing participation of women in military service.

Daughters' Courageous Achievements

PM Modi also cited the example of two female sailors who completed a nearly 250-day sea voyage in a motorless boat, braving numerous storms. PM Modi stated that whether it's the fight against Naxalites or cross-border terrorism, our daughters have become the shield of India's security.
