India has won six medals so far at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan. Five of the medals have come in shooting and one in mixed martial arts (MMA). On Monday, Himanshu Dhillon won silver and Rudrankksh Patil won bronze in the men’s 10m air rifle event. China’s Sheng Lihao won the gold medal. In MMA, Suchika Tariyal won a bronze medal for India. The Indian women’s table tennis team also advanced to the quarter-finals after defeating Pakistan 3-0, securing its third consecutive win in Group F and finishing at the top of the group.
In the men’s 10m air rifle individual event, India’s Himanshu Dhillon won the silver medal with 252.4 points, while Rudrankksh Patil won bronze with 230.9 points.
China’s Sheng Lihao won the gold medal with 254.2 points.
India also won a silver medal in the team event. The Indian team of Parth Rakesh Mane, Rudrankksh Patil and Himanshu Dhillon scored 1890.1 points. China finished first with 1899.9 points, while South Korea took third place with 1884.2 points.
With six medals, India moved to 10th place in the Asian Games medal table. According to the available update, India has six medals, including three silver medals.
China leads the table with 22 medals, including 13 gold medals. Japan is second with 21 medals, including six gold medals, while South Korea is third with 16 medals, including four gold medals.
Shooting has been one of India’s most successful sports so far, accounting for five of the country’s six medals.
Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil is among India’s young shooting athletes. He was born on December 16, 2003, in Thane, Maharashtra, and competes in the 10m air rifle event.
At the 2022 World Championship in Cairo, Rudrankksh won gold medals in both the individual and team events. After becoming an individual world champion, he became the second Indian after Abhinav Bindra to achieve the feat.
In 2022, Rudrankksh also held the world No. 1 ranking in the 10m air rifle event. At the Nagoya Asian Games, he won the bronze medal in the individual event.
Parth Rakesh Mane, who is part of the Indian team, was born on November 13, 2007. He competes in the 10m air rifle event.
Parth won gold at the 2024 ISSF Junior World Championship in Lima, Peru, becoming junior world champion. In the same year, he also won silver at the Junior World Cup and bronze at the Asian Championship.
In the men’s 10m air rifle team event in Nagoya, Parth contributed to India’s silver medal alongside Rudrankksh and Himanshu.
Himanshu Dhillon was born on September 29, 2005, and represents India in the 10m air rifle event.
In 2025, Himanshu won two gold medals and one bronze medal at the ISSF Junior World Cup. In 2026, he also won two gold medals at the Asian Championship.
At the 2026 Senior World Cup in Munich, Himanshu finished ninth. He scored 635.7 points in the qualification round of that competition. At the Nagoya Asian Games, he won the silver medal in the men’s 10m air rifle individual event.
India’s Rudrankksh Patil and Himanshu Dhillon qualified for the men’s 10m air rifle individual final.
In qualification, Rudrankksh finished third with 631.8 points, while Himanshu was seventh with 630.0 points. The third Indian shooter, Parth Rakesh Mane, finished 11th with 628.3 points and did not qualify for the individual final.
India therefore had two shooters in the individual event final and also won a medal in the team event.
In mixed martial arts, Suchika Tariyal won a bronze medal in the women’s traditional 60kg category. She was defeated 2-0 by Singapore’s Hui Hoon Teo in the semi-final.
Following the semi-final defeat, Suchika received the bronze medal. After the result, she was emotional and also challenged the decision of the umpires.
Suchika began her sporting career in judo at a young age. She started judo at the age of 12 and has been an eight-time national champion. She won gold medals at the 2019 Commonwealth Judo Championship and the South Asian Games.
She also won gold at the 2024 Jiu-Jitsu World Championship. After the jiu-jitsu team for the Asian Games was cancelled, she moved to MMA.
She paid for her own travel expenses to participate in the Asian Championship, where she won two bronze medals. She was subsequently selected for the Asian Games team.
India’s Sumit defeated Thailand’s Bunjong Sinsiri in the men’s 70kg boxing category to advance to the round of 16.
Sumit won the bout 5-0 after maintaining his composure in the third round.
The victory kept the Indian boxer in contention in the competition.
The Indian women’s table tennis team defeated Pakistan 3-0 to advance to the quarter-finals. India recorded its third consecutive win in Group F and finished at the top of the group.
In the first match, Sutirtha Mukherjee defeated Alina Khan 11-3, 11-3, 11-4 to give India the lead.
Seventeen-year-old Cinderella Das then defeated Kalsum Khan 11-6, 11-7, 11-5 to extend India’s lead to 2-0.
In the third match, Sreeja Akula defeated Fatima Khan 11-4, 11-4, 11-5 to seal India’s victory. Sreeja won her match in 11 minutes.
India had earlier defeated Indonesia and Singapore in the group stage. With three consecutive wins, the team finished at the top of Group F and advanced to the quarter-finals.
Shooting has accounted for five of India’s six medals in the early stages of the Nagoya Asian Games, while Suchika Tariyal’s bronze in MMA took India’s medal tally to six.
With Rudrankksh Patil and Himanshu Dhillon reaching the individual shooting final, India’s next shooting contests remain part of the competition. The Indian women’s table tennis team has also advanced to the quarter-finals.
India will continue its campaign in boxing, shooting, table tennis and other sports at the competition.
