Pakistan's nuclear threats fail after India's 'Operation Sindoor'; Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif admits their nuclear program is solely for peace and security.
Pakistan: Following India's recent 'Operation Sindoor', Pakistan has significantly altered its stance. While Pakistan had previously issued threats of nuclear attacks, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif himself has now admitted that their nuclear program is not for aggression but for maintaining peace.
India's Surgical Strike After the Pahalgam Terrorist Attack
On April 22, a major terrorist attack took place in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. In response, India launched precise strikes against a total of 9 terrorist hideouts located in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). These attacks were named 'Operation Sindoor'. This operation was so precise and swift that it completely surprised Pakistan.
One of these hideouts was in Bahawalpur, which is considered a bhold of Jaish-e-Mohammed. India's action shook the Pakistani military and political establishment.
Pakistan's Initial Reaction: Nuclear Threat
Following India's action, Pakistan attempted drone and missile attacks. However, the Indian air defense system thwarted all these attacks. Subsequently, Pakistan's defense minister and former intelligence chiefs began to threaten the use of nuclear weapons.
Former ISI DG Javed Ashraf Qazi, citing the example of World War II, said that just as two atomic bombs were dropped on Japan, if a war occurred between India and Pakistan, the consequences would be even more terrible. He also stated that both countries possess about 170 nuclear bombs, which could lead to massive destruction.
Shehbaz Sharif Changes Tone, Appeals for Peace
However, a statement has now emerged from Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in which he has dismissed the possibility of a nuclear conflict with India. Addressing students in Islamabad, Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan's nuclear program is entirely for maintaining peace and protecting national interests.
He said, "Our nuclear program is solely for defense and stability purposes, it will not be used for aggressive action." This statement clarifies that Pakistan was compelled to change its stance after India's military action.
Pakistan's Nuclear Blackmail Fails
Pakistan has long employed the strategy of 'nuclear blackmail'. Whenever India takes a b step, Pakistan's political and military leadership starts issuing threats of nuclear attack. But this time, the situation changed. India not only destroyed terrorist hideouts but also gave a precise and peaceful response to Pakistan's nuclear threats.
PM Modi's Stern Message
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already made it clear that Pakistan's "proxy war" will now be viewed as a real war and will be responded to at the same level. He also stated that if any terrorist attack comes from across the border, it will be considered a war against the country, and India will not hesitate to respond.
