Shahzain, who was scheduled to fly from Lahore to Karachi, was mistakenly sent to Jeddah by Pakistan International Airlines. He boarded the international flight without a passport or visa. An investigation has been launched.
Pakistan Passenger: A shocking case of negligence in air travel has come to light in Pakistan. A man named Shahzain arrived at Lahore Airport to catch a domestic flight to Karachi. However, due to a lapse by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), he was directly flown to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The astonishing fact is that Shahzain had neither a passport nor a visa.
Revelation During the Flight
Shahzain initially had no idea that the plane he was on was flying to Jeddah instead of Karachi. After a few hours of the flight, when he didn't see Karachi, he questioned the cabin crew. This caused a commotion throughout the flight. According to Shahzain, he had shown his ticket to the airline staff before boarding the plane and also showed it to the air hostess after boarding.
Two Flights Parked at the Airport
The incident began at Lahore Airport. Shahzain told the media that two planes were parked at the domestic terminal of the airport. He boarded the flight that was scheduled to go to Jeddah. The airline staff neither properly checked his ticket nor gave him the correct guidance.
Crew Members Blamed the Passenger
When the plane didn't land after two hours of flying, Shahzain became suspicious. He inquired with the crew and was informed that the flight was going to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, not Karachi. Following this, there was chaos on the flight. Surprisingly, the airline staff started blaming Shahzain for the mistake instead of themselves.
Foreign Travel Without a Passport and Visa
The most serious aspect of this entire incident was that Shahzain did not have any necessary documents for foreign travel. He had neither a passport nor a visa for Jeddah. Despite this, how he boarded the international flight raises serious questions about the airport's security arrangements and the airline's operational procedures.
Sought Help in Jeddah, Received a Disappointing Response
After arriving in Jeddah, Shahzain requested the authorities there to send him back to Pakistan. However, he was told that it would take at least two to three days to return to Karachi. Shahzain appeared mentally distressed by the whole incident and has warned of legal action against Pakistan International Airlines.
Airport Authority Orders Investigation
Following the incident, the Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) has asked for a report from the officials at Lahore Airport regarding the matter. The authority has termed it as "serious negligence". The Lahore Airport administration has also started an investigation and stated that strict action will be taken against the responsible employees.
