Prashant Kishor's party, Jan Suraaj, will field candidates in all seats in the Bihar elections. There are indications that PK may contest from Raghopur or Buxar. Will he adopt the Kejriwal model by contesting against Tejashwi?
Bihar Election 2025: Assembly elections in Bihar are expected to be held in October-November 2025. A direct contest is anticipated between the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance). However, a new player is also ready to enter the field with full force this time—Prashant Kishor's party, 'Jan Suraaj.' Prashant Kishor, who transitioned from a strategic advisor to a politician, has already made it clear that his party will contest all 243 seats and will not form alliances with any party.
Will Prashant Kishor himself contest elections?
Now, the big question is whether PK will contest the assembly elections himself. In March 2025, PK said that if the party asks, he might contest from the Raghopur seat. This is the same seat from which the Leader of the Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, is an MLA. However, political debate intensified after this. The RJD started accusing PK of being the BJP's B team.
Rejecting these allegations, Prashant Kishor said that he is ready to contest elections not only against Tejashwi but also against Narendra Modi. This indicated that he would not just remain in the role of a strategist but might also enter the electoral arena himself.
Will PK adopt the Kejriwal model?
When PK talked about contesting elections from Raghopur against Tejashwi Yadav, it started being linked to the 'Kejriwal model' in political circles. In 2013, when Arvind Kejriwal contested the Delhi Assembly elections, he directly challenged the then-Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on her seat, New Delhi. Later, in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Kejriwal also contested against Narendra Modi from Varanasi.
In this context, if PK contests from Raghopur, this strategy will also be considered similar. Since Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is a member of the Legislative Council and does not contest assembly elections, challenging the opposition's Chief Ministerial face, Tejashwi Yadav, could be politically significant.
PK might also contest from Buxar
Apart from Raghopur, there are speculations about PK contesting from the Buxar seat. PK has a personal and educational connection with Buxar. He completed his schooling from Buxar, and his ancestral home is also there. The caste equations might also be in his favor. In the 2020 assembly elections, the Buxar seat was won by Congress's Munna Tiwari, who belongs to the general category. Therefore, PK might consider contesting from here.
Jan Suraaj's electoral strategy
Prashant Kishor's party, Jan Suraaj, is presenting itself as an alternative to the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar. The party is working by focusing on basic issues like education, health, migration, and employment. PK's focus is on bringing forward new faces with a clean image.
He has announced that Jan Suraaj will give 90 percent of the tickets to those candidates who are contesting elections for the first time. This means that the party is claiming a fresh start, different from traditional politics. PK is continuously traveling across Bihar and interacting with local people. He is conveying Jan Suraaj's vision and plan to people in every district and village.
