Chandauli: The joy of the Chhath festival turned into mourning in Uttar Pradesh's Chandauli district. On Tuesday morning, a speeding unidentified truck crushed three people on a road filled with devotees. The accident was so horrific that a grandmother, her daughter-in-law, and her grandson died on the spot. The incident occurred on National Highway-19 near Panchfedwa village, under Alinagar police station limits, when the three devotees were on their way to the Chhath ghat.
Three Devotees Die in Road Accident
Around 5:30 AM on Tuesday, Kumari Devi (52), wife of Sukhram from Revsa village, along with her daughter-in-law Chandni (27) and grandson Saurabh (7), were heading towards the ghat for Chhath Puja. Suddenly, a speeding truck coming from behind ran over all three. The impact was so severe that all three died on the spot.
After the accident, the truck driver lost control of the vehicle, broke through the wall of the roadside Megha Baba Temple, and fled the scene. When local residents heard the loud crash, they rushed to the spot, but by then, the driver had already escaped with the vehicle. Seeing the bodies on the road, a pall of gloom descended upon the area.
Large Crowd of Villagers Gathered After the Incident
