President Murmu Appoints New Governors and Lieutenant Governor in Haryana, Goa, and Ladakh

President Droupadi Murmu has appointed new Governors and a Lieutenant Governor in Haryana, Goa, and Ladakh. Prof. Ashim Ghosh, Ashok Gajapathi Raju, and Kavindra Gupta have been assigned to these positions.

New Delhi: President of India, Droupadi Murmu, has made changes in the appointments of Governors of two states – Haryana and Goa – and the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh on July 14, 2025. According to an official press release issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan, new appointments have been made to these posts. This decision is considered an important step towards administrative balance and better governance.

New Appointments to Three Important Positions

According to the notification issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the following individuals have been appointed to the posts of Governor and Lieutenant Governor:

1. Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh – New Governor of Haryana
2. Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju – New Governor of Goa
3. Kavindra Gupta – New Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh

These three appointments have been implemented with immediate effect. Simultaneously, the resignation of the current Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.), has also been accepted.

Haryana Gets an Academic Governor: Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh

President Murmu has appointed Professor Ashim Kumar Ghosh as the new Governor of Haryana. He is known as a distinguished academic and political thinker. Previously, this responsibility was held by Bandaru Dattatreya. Prof. Ghosh's appointment comes at a time when several important educational and social issues are under discussion in the state. It is expected that his experience and perspective will give a new direction to the state.

Goa Gets a New Face: Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju

Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju has been appointed as the new Governor of Goa. He is a senior leader and has previously served as the Union Minister of Civil Aviation in the Government of India. He will replace P. S. Sreedharan Pillai. Ashok Gajapathi Raju has administrative experience along with a long experience of working at the central and state levels. This appointment is considered very important for a state like Goa, which is important from the point of view of tourism and strategy.

Kavindra Gupta Appointed as Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh

Kavindra Gupta has now been appointed to the post of Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh. He is a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and has also been the former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. He has held sensitive administrative responsibilities many times in his political career. His experience in Ladakh can prove useful, especially in an area where administrative reach, infrastructure, and strategic issues are extremely important.

Resignation of Brigadier (Dr.) B. D. Mishra Accepted

The resignation of Brigadier (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.), who was the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh until now, has been accepted by the President. During his tenure, he played an active role in the development of border areas and strategic matters. Kavindra Gupta has now taken his place.
