Rahul Gandhi Accuses Election Commission of Vote Theft; BJP Denies Allegations. Bhupender Yadav States Congress Won Most Seats in Areas Where Allegations Were Made.
Rahul Gandhi: In response to allegations of rigging and vote theft in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the Bharatiya Janata Party has taken a b stance. Union Minister Bhupender Yadav, in a press conference on Friday, called Rahul Gandhi's statements misleading and baseless. He stated that Rahul Gandhi is attempting to mislead the public by making false accusations against a constitutional body like the Election Commission.
How Justified is Questioning the Election Commission?
Rahul Gandhi made serious allegations against the Election Commission, stating that electoral fraud was committed to benefit the BJP. He accused them of vote theft in Maharashtra and Karnataka. In response, Bhupender Yadav said it was extremely unfortunate that the leader of the opposition was speaking to the Election Commission in a threatening tone. This is not right for democracy.
Analysis of Rahul Gandhi's Allegations
Rahul Gandhi claimed that 1,00,250 votes were stolen in Karnataka's Mahadevapura constituency. He said that Congress expected to win 16 seats in Karnataka but only won 9. According to Rahul, dozens of voters were registered at the same address, and many voters were registered at fake addresses. He also said that his party conducted physical verification of these addresses, but no one was found there.
BJP's Reaction and Arguments
Bhupender Yadav completely rejected these allegations, stating that all of Rahul Gandhi's claims are baseless. He said that according to the Election Commission, only 4 million new voters were added in Maharashtra, while Rahul claimed 10 million. This is 60% less than Rahul's figure.
He sarcastically said that Congress won the most seats in Maharashtra, where the most votes were added. This raises the question: if votes were stolen, who benefited from it?
Attack on Constitutional Institutions?
Bhupender Yadav also criticized Rahul Gandhi's comment in which he said that he would teach the Election Commission officials a lesson after coming to power. He said that such language does not befit a responsible opposition leader. He also alleged that Rahul Gandhi has repeatedly questioned the impartiality of the army and the Supreme Court.
What is the Truth About the Mahadevapura Seat?
Rahul Gandhi alleged that the BJP received 2,29,632 votes and Congress received 1,15,586 votes in the Mahadevapura seat. The margin of victory was 32,707 votes, but he claimed that around 100,000 votes were stolen. The BJP called it a political stunt, saying that Rahul Gandhi should provide concrete evidence for his allegations.
