Political Storm Erupts Over Rahul Gandhi's 'Dead Economy' Remark

The statement by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, calling India a "dead economy," has sparked a political uproar. While the Samajwadi Party has supported the statement, the Bharatiya Janata Party has termed it an insult to the nation.

SP MP Ram Gopal Yadav said

Senior Samajwadi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Prof. Ram Gopal Yadav, supported Rahul Gandhi's statement, asserting that the country's economic situation is indeed dire. He stated that this is not new information, and everyone knows that the Indian economy is facing a serious crisis. He added that while development might be visible in Delhi, the condition in villages, where 90 percent of the country's population resides, is very poor. Ram Gopal Yadav criticized the government regarding the plight of the rural economy, saying that the ground reality speaks volumes.

Rahul Gandhi cited Trump's statement

Rahul Gandhi, referring to a purported statement by former US President Donald Trump, claimed that India's economy is now completely dead. He stated that everyone knows this except the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister. Rahul wrote in a social media post— The Indian Economy is Dead. Modi killed it. He alleges that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policies have ruined the future of the youth because there is a severe lack of jobs in the country.

BJP called it shameful

The BJP's reaction to Rahul Gandhi's statement was also sharp. The party's IT cell chief, Amit Malviya, said that Rahul Gandhi has crossed all limits of indecency by repeating Trump's comment. He stated that Rahul's statement is an insult to the hard work, aspirations, and economic achievements of the people of India. He alleged that the opposition leader's statement reflects a pessimistic mindset and anti-national sentiment.

This entire episode has once again intensified the conflict between the central government and the opposition on the economic front. It remains to be seen in which direction this political rhetoric will head in the future.
