Jaipur: The Rajasthan High Court has cancelled the 2021 Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examination. This decision is a major setback for the state government as candidates were selected for a total of 859 posts in this recruitment. The court stated that improperly selected candidates cannot be assigned to law and order duties.
With this decision, the High Court has ordered a new examination to be conducted, including all posts from the recruitment released in July 2021. This decision was made by a single bench of Justice Sameer Jain after a hearing.
SI Recruitment Paper Leak Accused Arrested
Several serious irregularities and paper leak incidents came to light in the SI recruitment 2021. The examination was conducted from September 13 to 15, 2021, with 7.97 lakh candidates applying and 3.80 lakh candidates appearing for the exam.
The main centre for the paper leak was Ravindra Bal Bharti Senior Secondary School located in Hasanpura, Shanti Nagar. The Principal of the school and Exam Centre Superintendent, Rajesh Khandelwal, was found to have a primary role in this case. Additionally, a total of 122 people, including 54 training station house officers, have been arrested after the examination.
Exam Results and Selection Process
The result of the examination was released on December 24, 2021, with 20,359 candidates passing. Subsequently, their physical test was conducted in February 2022, and the results were declared in April 2022.
A total of 3,291 candidates were called for interviews, and the final result was released in June 2023. However, following the High Court's order, this entire selection process has been cancelled, and a new examination will have to be conducted.
High Court Permits New SI Recruitment
The High Court clarified that only eligible and impartially selected candidates can be appointed to law and order duties. The court stated that if irregularities persist in the recruitment process, it could create a crisis in the state's public safety and administrative functioning.
Therefore, the court ordered the organization of a new examination and the inclusion of all posts. The Rajasthan government will now prepare according to this new order.
