Rajasthan's Minister of Agriculture, Kirori Lal Meena, has taken b action against those selling counterfeit fertilizers and seeds.
Jaipur: The crackdown on fake and adulterated fertilizers and seeds in Rajasthan has reached a decisive point. State Agriculture Minister Kirori Lal Meena has made it clear that not only companies but also the traders who deceive farmers by selling counterfeit materials will not be spared. This firm stance by the minister is considered a significant step in favor of farmers, raising hopes for improvement in Rajasthan's agricultural sector in the coming time.
The state government was already serious about the problem of fake seeds and fertilizers, but now the scope of the action has reached the traders. Minister Meena has instructed officials to identify traders who are deliberately selling adulterated materials, jeopardizing farmers' hard work and crops.
Strict action on traders' role, warning to officials
In a recent important meeting, Minister Kirori Lal Meena stated that the network of fake fertilizers and seeds is now deeply entrenched. Initially, the source was considered limited to companies, but it has now emerged that many traders are also involved. The minister instructed that such traders be identified and strict action be taken against them to provide relief to farmers.
Furthermore, the minister explicitly warned officials that if any official at any level is found involved in this malpractice, they will not be spared. The minister stated that no compromise will be made with the farmers and immediate action will be taken against the culprits.
Why is this action necessary?
A large number of farmers in Rajasthan still rely on traditional farming, and the quality of seeds and fertilizers directly impacts their efforts each season. Fake or substandard seeds not only ruin their crops but also gradually deplete soil fertility, adversely affecting the entire agricultural sector.
Minister Meena said on this issue that if we fail to stop these traders and companies today, farming will become even more difficult for future generations. Adulterated seeds and fertilizers are not just a seasonal loss; they render the land barren for years to come.
Preparing to educate farmers
The government does not want to limit itself to only taking action. Simultaneously, a farmer awareness campaign is being launched so that farmers themselves can understand which seeds are genuine and which are fake. Through meetings at the panchayat level, agricultural fairs, and training programs, farmers will be informed about what to look for when purchasing seeds or fertilizers.
The minister also mentioned that the state government has launched several online portals, such as e-NAM, i-Krishi portal, and the seed monitoring system, where farmers can access information on certified seeds and register any complaints. Through these means, the government aims to ensure that no farmer falls victim to deception.
'Decoy operation' reveals the truth
Minister Meena recently conducted a 'decoy operation' in Rajasthan, in which he personally conducted raids in several places. Surprise raids in areas like Kishangarh and Sri Ganganagar uncovered large quantities of fake fertilizers and seeds. These raids found counterfeit and adulterated varieties of essential agricultural products like DAP, SSP, and gypsum.
The warehouses of the companies and traders implicated in this action were sealed, and legal proceedings were initiated. These actions caused a stir across the state, and many traders attempted to come forward and clear their names.
Action to intensify in the coming time
The minister clarified that this is only the beginning. This campaign will intensify in the coming days. He said, "I am personally going to the field to see the situation in each district. No one will be spared now, no matter how big a trader or official they are." The state's farmers have also welcomed the minister's firm stance. They believe that they have been victims of this kind of fraud for a long time, but now they have hope of getting justice.
