RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Outlines Views on Leadership, Population, Reservation, and National Identity

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Expresses Views on Leadership Transparency, Three-Child Policy, Reservation Support, Linguistic Unity, Preventing Infiltration, and Intelligent Use of Technology.

New Delhi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat addressed a press conference at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi on the occasion of the Sangh's centenary year. During this event, he shared his thoughts on several important issues and responded to journalists' questions. He clarified that the Sangh and the BJP are independent organizations and work in their respective domains.

Bhagwat stated that leadership should be clear and transparent. He described families with three children as being in the country's interest. Furthermore, he shared his views on issues such as caste-based reservation, languages, education, and preventing infiltration in the country.

Sangh and BJP are Independent Organizations - RSS Chief

Mohan Bhagwat said that the Sangh does not decide what the government or the party should do. He explained that the Sangh can offer advice in its areas of expertise, but the final decision rests with the government or the party. Bhagwat clarified that the Sangh only provides guidance and is not an organization that makes decisions in any way.

"If the Sangh made decisions, why would it take so long?" he remarked. This clearly indicates that the Sangh and the BJP make their own decisions.

Need for Clear and Transparent Leadership

Mohan Bhagwat emphasized that the leadership of any organization or government must be clear and transparent. Commenting on the recently passed bill in Parliament regarding the "disqualification of CM and PM upon imprisonment," he said that whatever decision Parliament takes in this matter will be followed. He believes that regardless of the law, its outcome should be such that people's faith in leadership is maintained.

Personal and Social Change Necessary

Bhagwat highlighted the importance of personal change for transformation within society. He stated that society's behavior must change first, and then improvements in systems become possible. He clarified that the Sangh holds three immutable views that are crucial from the perspective of a Hindu nation.

Families with Three Children Deemed Appropriate in National Interest

Mohan Bhagwat said that having three children in a family is appropriate in the national interest. This ensures the health of parents and children and maintains population balance. He added that having more than three children is not necessary.

Cities Should Not Be Named After Invaders

Bhagwat stated that the names of cities and roads should not be after invaders. He also said that cities and institutions should be named after Muslim leaders and warrior queens, but not after aggressors. He gave the example that both Ram Prasad Bismil and Ashfaq Ullah Khan are sources of inspiration.

Ram Temple and the Sangh's Stance

Mohan Bhagwat said that the Ram Temple movement was one that the Sangh supported. He clarified that the Sangh will not support other movements such as the revival of sites in Kashi and Mathura. Sangh volunteers are independent and can participate in any movement in a personal capacity.

Sangh's Perspective on Caste-Based Reservation

Bhagwat stated that caste-based reservation is constitutionally correct and the Sangh supports it. He mentioned that Deendayal Upadhyaya showed the way to improve the status of those at the bottom and top of society. He said that help should be provided to lift up those who are down, and those who are up should be encouraged to extend a helping hand.

Views on Languages and Education

Mohan Bhagwat said that all languages of India are national languages. He also stated that there should be no language disputes and that having one Indian language for communication is essential. He emphasized Sanskrit education, saying that knowledge of Sanskrit is necessary to understand India.

He spoke about the intelligent use of technology in education and mentioned that the new education policy includes provisions for 'Panchakosha' education, which encompasses arts, sports, and yoga. He said that the aim of education should not only be to impart information but also to shape individuals with good values.

Clear Message on Violence

Mohan Bhagwat stated that the Sangh never resorts to violence. It is a misconception that the Sangh is a violent organization. He said that if the Sangh were violent, it would not be able to remain such a large and open organization. He mentioned that women play an effective role in the Sangh. While branches are separate, women play a prominent role in Sangh-inspired organizations. He described women as a complementary force to the Sangh.

Indian Knowledge Tradition and International Perspective

Mohan Bhagwat explained that the Indian knowledge tradition is an integral part of the Sangh. The Sangh familiarizes its workers daily with the lives of sages and modern scientists. He said that the Sangh's work is confined to India, but Hindu Swayamsevaks are active abroad, and their working methodology is similar to that of the Sangh.

Views on Islam and Infiltration

He stated that Islam is a part of India and will always remain so. He clarified that Muslim citizens should be given employment, but it is essential to stop foreign infiltration. He said that conflict will end only when everyone is united.

Importance of Vegetarian Food During Festivals

Bhagwat said that people attach importance to fasting and vegetarian food during festivals. Therefore, it is wise to abstain from non-vegetarian food at such times. He said that this is not a matter of making laws but of social understanding. He added that it is important for students to be aware of the Preamble of the Constitution, citizen duties, rights, and directive principles. This will make children responsible towards their country and society.
