Saharanpur: Police in Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday busted a major fake degree racket. In a joint operation by Thana Sadar Bazar Police and the Surveillance Team, five members of the gang were arrested within just 12 hours. From the accused, 240 fake degrees, mark sheets, four laptops, nine mobile phones, and cash were recovered. This gang was active in several states, defrauding unemployed youth in the name of fake degrees.

Major Revelation in Delhi Police Recruitment Due to Fake Degree

During the investigation, police discovered that a fake degree created by the gang was used in the Delhi Police recruitment examination. The degree was proven fake during verification, leading to the search for the entire network.

Based on this lead, the police acted swiftly and identified the accused with the help of technical surveillance. On Tuesday evening, during a check near the railway line, five accused were arrested. They were identified as Parvat Kumar, Rinku Kumar, Jasbir alias Kala, Akshay Dev, and Varun Shankar.

Web of Fraud Uncovered by a Complaint

On October 27, Ashwini Kumar, a resident of Govind Nagar, filed a complaint at the police station stating that two individuals named Rinku and Jasbir had taken 70,000 rupees from him, promising to provide genuine mark sheets, but later handed over fake documents.

Taking this complaint seriously, the Senior Superintendent of Police formed a special team. The investigation revealed that the accused were active not only locally but also across the state and in other states. During interrogation, the degrees recovered from the gang included fake mark sheets for courses such as Medical, Engineering, and Education.

Defrauding Unemployed Youth of Lakhs of Rupees

The gang defrauded unemployed youth by luring them with promises of easy government jobs and medical degrees. The accused charged between 1 lakh and 4.5 lakh rupees and prepared fake degrees such as B.Tech, BUMS, MBBS, and B.Ed.

Jasbir alias Kala gained people's trust by presenting himself as a "PhD holder." The mastermind of the gang, Parvat Kumar, a resident of Meerut, created high-quality fake degrees using modern printers and scanners.

Network Spread Across Several States

During interrogation, it was revealed that the gang's network extends across UP, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, and Nagaland. Police have collected digital evidence, and raids are being conducted to apprehend seven other absconding members.

SP City Vyom Bindal stated that the remaining members of the gang would soon be arrested, and the entire conspiracy would be exposed. Currently, the police are also investigating how many candidates have used these fake degrees so far.
