School Holidays 2025: Extended Closures Announced for Diwali and Chhath in Rajasthan, Bihar, UP, and Haryana

Schools in several states will remain closed for Diwali and Chhath in October 2025. Rajasthan will have 12 days of holidays, Bihar 10 days, UP 4 days, and Haryana 5 days. Students and parents should confirm holidays according to their respective states.

School Holiday 2025: October is considered the month of festivals across the country. Major festivals like Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath fall in this month. In the coming days, the festivals of Diwali and Chhath will be celebrated nationwide. In view of these festivals, holidays have been announced in schools across various states.

Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana, and other states have announced holidays in their schools on the occasion of Diwali and Chhath. Schools in Rajasthan will remain closed for 12 days, while in Bihar, they will be closed for 10 days. States like Uttar Pradesh and Haryana will have school holidays for four to five days.

Schools Closed in Rajasthan on the Occasion of Diwali

According to the order issued by Rajasthan's Director of Secondary Education, Sitaram Jat, Diwali holidays in the state have been extended. Previously, the holiday period was from October 16 to October 27, but it has now been made effective from October 13.

Rajasthan will have a total of 12 days of holidays, including Sunday, October 12. During this period, all government and private schools in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Udaipur, Ajmer, and Kota divisions of the state will remain closed. Schools in Rajasthan will reopen on October 25.

Students and parents can enjoy the festival with their families during this period. As per the government order, it is mandatory for all schools to observe the holiday period.

Four-Day Diwali Holiday in Uttar Pradesh

In Uttar Pradesh too, schools will remain closed from October 20 to October 23, 2025, in view of the Diwali festival. As October 19 is a Sunday, there will be a total of four days of holidays.

This holiday will apply to all government and private schools. Students and teachers can stay home during this period and participate in festival preparations. The Uttar Pradesh government has also directed other educational institutions, besides schools, to observe this holiday.

Ten-Day Long Holidays in Bihar

In Bihar state, long holidays have been announced in schools in view of the Diwali and Chhath festivals. Schools in Bihar will remain closed from October 20 to October 29, 2025.

Thus, Bihar will have a total of ten days of holidays. This holiday will apply to all government and private schools. Students can participate in festival preparations and family activities during this period.

Considering the importance of Chhath Puja in Bihar, the holiday duration has been kept longer. Parents are advised to maintain a balance between their children's studies and festival time.

Five-Day Holiday in Haryana

In Haryana state, schools will have holidays from October 19 to October 23, 2025, on the occasion of Diwali. During this period, students and teachers will receive a total of five days of holidays.

The Haryana government has already released information regarding school holidays. Holidays have also been announced in schools in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, and other Hindi-speaking states. Therefore, students are advised to confirm the holidays with their schools according to their state, as holiday dates may vary across different states.
