Sultanpur: A massive explosion occurred at 4:40 AM on Wednesday morning in Miyaganj market, under the Jaisinghpur police station area of Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The blast completely demolished three houses, and 12 people were injured after being trapped under the debris.
Upon receiving information about the incident, police, fire brigade, and ambulances rushed to the scene. The injured were immediately taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) Jaisinghpur, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Preliminary investigation indicates that the explosion is connected to illegal firecrackers and gunpowder.
Nazir and Family Seriously Injured in Explosion
Nazir (65), his wife Jamatul Nisha (62), sons Noor Mohammad (25), Suhail (17), Sada (12), daughters Khushi (15), Sahana (20), along with Faizan (8) and Kaif (22), members of neighbor Abdul Hamid's family, were injured in the incident. The neighbor's house was also severely damaged by the explosion.
Local residents reported that Nazir previously manufactured fireworks for weddings and other events. However, his license was later revoked. This raises the possibility that illegal firecrackers or gunpowder were still stored in the house.

Upon receiving information about the incident, teams from the police, fire brigade, and health department immediately arrived at the scene. The fire brigade conducted rescue operations, considering the risk of fire and repeated explosions. The injured were promptly taken to the hospital and provided with first aid.
Police cordoned off the area and evacuated nearby residents to safe locations to prevent any further potential danger. A team has been formed for a preliminary investigation to ascertain the causes of the blast.
Preliminary Investigation Links Explosion to Illegal Firecrackers
Police officials state that the explosion may be linked to the storage of illegal firecrackers or gunpowder. Twine balls (sutli gole) and the smell of gunpowder found at the blast site have been sent for examination.
Officials have assured immediate relief to the affected families. Additionally, security and surveillance have been increased in the surrounding area. The administration has warned that strict action will be taken against such illegal activities in the future.
