In **Sultanpur** district, a woman has accused her daughter's in-laws of demanding dowry and harassment. She stated that the in-laws began demanding a car and five lakh rupees immediately after the marriage. The daughter claims that her in-laws were not satisfied with the dowry demands and were continuously demanding additional dowry.
Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
The woman, a resident of Gosaiganj, stated that her daughter Isadul Nisha was married about a year and a half ago to Ejazuddin (alias Ejaz) of Dilawarpur, under Piparpur police station area in Amethi district. Since the marriage, the in-laws' side was dissatisfied with the dowry and has now started making additional demands.
The complaint alleges that Isadul Nisha's father-in-law (Riyazuddin), mother-in-law (Juvaida alias Raisha Begum), brother-in-law (Sarfaraz), and sister-in-law (Sumul) collectively demanded four cars and 5 lakh rupees as dowry. When she was unable to fulfill these demands, it is alleged that she was beaten daily, resulting in severe injuries.
The victim's family has filed a written complaint at the police station, and Station House Officer Ram Ashish Upadhyay stated that a case has been registered based on the complaint, and the investigation is ongoing.
