He refused to take the matter seriously, saying that there is nothing major in it. Tejashwi also questioned the Election Commission's voter list, saying that there are many discrepancies in it. He claimed that the names of many genuine voters are missing from the list, while in some houses, the names of more than 50 people have been added. Tejashwi said that he will inform the commission about these anomalies and will also bly present his case in court.

What is the matter?

Actually, the Election Commission has issued a notice to Tejashwi Yadav to investigate the EPIC number RAB2916120 shown in his press conference. The commission has asked Tejashwi to submit the original copy of that EPIC card so that the matter can be thoroughly investigated. The notice was sent after the commission's preliminary investigation found that this number was not found in any record.

What did Tejashwi say?

Tejashwi Yadav recently claimed that his name is not in the draft voter list issued under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). He said that he searched his EPIC number RAB2916120 on the Election Commission's website, but it showed 'No Record Found'. On this basis, he questioned the functioning of the commission and accused it of massive irregularities in the voter list.

What did the Election Commission say?

The Election Commission has rejected Tejashwi's allegations, clarifying that his name is registered in the voter list at polling booth number 204, serial number 416. According to the commission, Tejashwi's valid EPIC number is RAB0456228, which is present in the record and on the basis of which he also contested the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections. Commission sources said that the EPIC number shown by Tejashwi in the press conference has not been found in any register in the last 10 years.

What is an EPIC number?

The Election Commission of India issues an Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) number to all registered voters aged 18 years or more. This is a 10-digit alphanumeric code, in which the first three letters represent the respective assembly constituency or state, while the remaining digits are for the unique identification of the voter. The EPIC number is the most important information on the voter ID card, which ensures the identification of the voter in the election.
