Two individuals died and seven others were seriously injured in a road accident on Wednesday in the Chings area of Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir. Immediately following the incident, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abhishek Sharma visited the Government Medical College Hospital and inquired about the condition of the injured.
DC Sharma instructed doctors and hospital administration to provide timely and better treatment to all the injured. He also assured the victims’ families of all possible assistance.
DC Expresses Concern Over Road Safety Negligence
Upon learning of the accident, DC Abhishek Sharma voiced his displeasure over the continuous violation of traffic rules. He stated that any laxity in road safety would no longer be tolerated. The DC directed concerned officials to increase surveillance in sensitive areas and strictly enforce traffic regulations.
He clarified that speeding vehicles should undergo regular checks, and warning boards should be installed where necessary to prevent such accidents from recurring.

Following the accident, DC Abhishek Sharma himself visited the accident site in Chings. He was accompanied by senior officers from R&B, Traffic Police, ARO, and BWO. At the scene, the DC sought immediate action reports from all departments and instructed that quick and long-term solutions be implemented to prevent such incidents in the future.
The DC stated that under the administration’s zero-tolerance policy, strict action would be taken against violations of traffic rules. He also emphasized the need for better coordination between the police, transport, and road construction departments.
