UP Mango Festival 2025 Kicks Off in Lucknow, Showcasing 800+ Varieties

The UP Mango Festival 2025 has commenced at the Awadh Shilpgram in Lucknow. CM Yogi inaugurated the event. Over 800 varieties of mangoes are on display. Cultural programs, competitions, and plant sales are the main attractions.

UP Mango Festival 2025: The 'UP Mango Festival 2025', held in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, was inaugurated on Friday by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. This three-day festival is taking place at the Awadh Shilpgram, showcasing over 800 varieties of mangoes.

Chief Minister Flags Off Mango Containers

During the event, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off containers of mangoes produced in the state for international markets such as London and Dubai. He signaled the departure of the mango-filled containers and also released a souvenir.

Recognition of Progressive Mango Producers

The Chief Minister honored and encouraged progressive mango producers of the state. He stated that the state government is providing all possible assistance to mango farmers so that Uttar Pradesh's mangoes can become even more popular in global markets.

The festival features displays of both indigenous and foreign mango varieties like Dasheri, Langra, Chausa, Amrapali, Arunima, Ambalika, and Tommy Atkins. The colors, shapes, and flavors of these mangoes are a sight to behold.

Participation from Other States

Representatives from the Horticulture Departments, progressive orchard owners, and mango exporters from other states, including Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan, are participating in the festival. FPOs, cooperative societies, self-help groups, packhouse operators, traders, nursery owners, scientists, and researchers are also involved in the program along with farmers.

Special Cultural Evenings and Competitions

Cultural evenings are being organized every evening, featuring performances by local folk artists. On Saturday, renowned poet Kumar Vishwas will also recite poetry. In addition, competitions like mango eating contests, seminars, agricultural training, and research-related programs are also being held.

The Mango Festival features not only mangoes, but also the sale of products made from them, such as pickles, murabba (fruit preserve), amawat (dried mango pulp), mango rasgulla (a sweet), and mango jalebi (a sweet). High-quality mango plants are also available for purchase.

Record Participation of Samples

This year, a total of 2853 samples are being displayed at the festival, which is approximately 7 percent more than last year. Competitions are being held in seven categories across 58 sections, with a total of 1449 participants. In the preserved food category, 351 samples from 108 participants are on display.

Mango cultivation is done on 3.25 lakh hectares of land in Uttar Pradesh. The state's annual mango production is 61.46 lakh metric tons, which accounts for approximately 27 percent of the total mango production in the country. The government is working to further strengthen the export potential in this sector.
