UPPSC RO/ARO Exam 2025: High-Tech Surveillance and Strict Guidelines for July 27th Exam

New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) is set to conduct the highly anticipated Review Officer (RO) and Assistant Review Officer (ARO) recruitment examination across the state on July 27, 2025. Approximately 10.76 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the exam this year, making it one of the largest competitive examinations in the state.

To ensure a cheating-free, fair, and transparent examination, the Commission has employed several modern technologies. The examination will be conducted across the state on a single day and in a single shift, eliminating the need for normalization and providing equal opportunities for all examinees.

Examination to be Equipped with High-Tech Surveillance

This year's examination prioritizes the use of technology at multiple levels. AI-based facial recognition systems, CCTV cameras, and social media monitoring units have been deployed at the examination centers. All these measures have been taken to curb activities such as paper leaks, impersonation, and cheating.

Furthermore, strict action will be taken against spreading rumors or sharing inappropriate information related to the examination on social media. The social media monitoring cell will keep an eye on every input.

One Day, One Shift – A Clear and Straightforward Arrangement

The examination will be held on July 27th in a single shift from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM. The Commission has made this decision, keeping in mind the repeated protests from students against normalization.

Now, all candidates will take the examination at the same time, ensuring that no one gets an additional advantage or disadvantage.

What to Bring and What Not to Bring to the Examination

To appear for the examination, candidates must bring their admit card, two passport-size photographs, and a valid photo ID (Aadhar card, PAN card, passport, driving license, or voter ID).

Only a black ballpoint pen and a plain clipboard/hardboard (with nothing written on it) will be allowed inside the examination center.

Mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, Bluetooth devices, and other electronic gadgets are strictly prohibited. If any candidate is caught with such gadgets, they may be expelled from the examination and barred from future examinations.

Punctuality is Essential, Delay Means Exit

Entry to the examination center will be granted from 8:00 AM, i.e., one and a half hours before the commencement of the examination. However, the gates of the center will be closed 45 minutes before the examination starts, i.e., at 8:45 AM.

Therefore, candidates are advised to reach the examination center at least one hour in advance so that processes like biometric verification and iris scanning can be completed on time.

Candidates arriving late will not be allowed to enter – regardless of whether they possess valid documents.

Caution Required in the Answer Sheet

The question paper and answer sheet given to the candidates must have the same barcode number. Be sure to match the barcode number before the exam begins. If there is any discrepancy — such as a barcode mismatch, a missing page, or a damaged answer sheet — inform the supervisor immediately and get a new set.

The use of any kind of cutting, whitener, blade, or eraser is strictly prohibited on the answer sheet. In case of such mistakes, the answer sheet will not be evaluated.

Examination Pattern and Negative Marking

The examination will consist of a total of 200 multiple-choice questions, out of which 140 questions will be from General Studies and 60 questions will be from General Hindi. The total duration of the examination will be 3 hours (180 minutes).

There is a provision for negative marking in the examination:

  • 1/3 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
  • If more than one answer is given for a question, it will also be considered incorrect and penalized accordingly.
  • No marks will be deducted for leaving a question unanswered.
