Allahabad High Court Stays Arrest of RCB's Yash Dayal Amidst Sexual Harassment Allegations

RCB fast bowler Yash Dayal has received significant relief from the Allahabad High Court. Despite an FIR filed against him on charges of sexual harassment, the High Court has stayed his arrest. Following this decision, Yash Dayal is currently relieved and safe from arrest.

Yash Dayal: The Allahabad High Court has temporarily stayed the arrest of cricketer Yash Dayal, who is accused in a sexual harassment case. The 27-year-old fast bowler, Yash Dayal, is accused of physically and mentally exploiting a woman for five years by falsely promising marriage. An FIR was registered against Dayal on July 6th at the Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad under section 69 of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita).

What is the whole case?

A woman has made serious allegations against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fast bowler Yash Dayal. On July 6, 2025, the woman filed an FIR against Yash Dayal under section 69 of the BNS at the Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad. The woman alleges that Yash Dayal sexually exploited her for 5 years by promising to marry her. 

The woman claims that she met Yash Dayal about 5 years ago. She alleges that the cricketer repeatedly postponed the marriage, making false promises, and sexually exploited her, and later she found out that he was also in relationships with other women.

What is Yash Dayal's stance?

Yash Dayal has filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court, accusing that he is being framed in the whole case. He demanded that the FIR filed against him be quashed. Yash Dayal also stated that this case is motivated by revenge and that he is innocent. The double bench of the Allahabad High Court - Justice Siddhartha Verma and Justice Anil Kumar - made significant remarks during the hearing. 

The court remarked verbally, "You could be fooled for a day, two days, three days, but five years? No one can be fooled for five years." This comment by the court is also a topic of discussion on social media. The court clarified that Yash Dayal will not be arrested until the next hearing.

What is section 69 of the BNS?

Section 69 of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita) is related to sexual relations obtained by deception. This directly means that if a person forms a relationship with a woman on the basis of marriage or any other false promise, it is considered a crime. A case has been registered against Yash Dayal under this section. The court has granted relief to Yash Dayal from arrest until the next hearing. The police cannot take any punitive action against Yash Dayal until the date of the next hearing is set.
