CM Yogi Unveils Jayaprakash Narayan Statue, Inaugurates Beautification Project in Gorakhpur

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath unveiled a statue of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan at Asuran Chowk in Gorakhpur on Thursday, July 24th, and also inaugurated the beautification work of the intersection. On this occasion, he paid tribute to Jayaprakash Narayan, calling him the reviver of democracy in India. He said that when democracy in the country was in crisis due to dictatorial tendencies, JP courageously came forward and gave it new life. The Chief Minister described him as a true follower of Mahatma Gandhi and said that his entire life was dedicated to Indianness and moral values.

CM Yogi said on this occasion that Jayaprakash Narayan's contribution to strengthening democracy is historic. He made people aware of their rights and duties through his thoughts and struggles. A large number of local people, officials and public representatives were present at the event.

Targeted Previous Governments

In his address, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath targeted those political parties who came to power in the name of Jayaprakash Narayan but could not realize his dreams. He said that in 1977, JP had demanded a health center in his village Sitab Diara (Uttar Pradesh-Bihar border) and expressed his desire to name it after his wife Prabhavati ji. Unfortunately, the previous governments could not fulfill this demand.

The CM informed that his government has not only fulfilled this demand but has also built a 100-bed health center in the village, which has been named after Prabhavati ji. He described this as a matter of pride for the state government and said that it is a symbol of true respect, not just political rhetoric.

Appreciation for Beautification Work

The Chief Minister appreciated the district administration, Gorakhpur Development Authority, and Municipal Corporation for the widening and beautification work of Asuran Chowk. He said that the grandeur and sensitivity with which the statue of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan has been re-established is an inspiring effort to keep his memory alive. This is also an example for other urban local bodies and administrative units.
