The Mumbai Police have achieved a major breakthrough in the case of death threats against Zeeshan Siddique, son of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique and NCP leader. With the help of Interpol, the accused, Mohammed Dilshad Mohammed Nauved, has been arrested in Trinidad and Tobago and brought to India. The accused is charged with threatening Zeeshan via email and demanding a ransom of ₹10 crore. Following this arrest, the investigation of the case is now with the Mumbai Crime Branch.
Demand of ₹10 Crore
The case dates back to April 21, when Zeeshan Siddique received threatening emails for three consecutive days. In these emails, the accused identified himself as a member of D-Company and demanded a ransom of ₹10 crore. He also threatened that if the money was not paid, he would meet the same fate as his father. Regarding this matter, Zeeshan immediately filed a complaint at the Bandra Police Station, after which the police increased his security and registered an FIR against the unknown accused. On April 23, this case was handed over to the Mumbai Crime Branch for investigation.
Arrest After Red Corner Notice
During the investigation, it was revealed that the accused who issued the threats is a resident of Darbhanga, Bihar, who was residing in Trinidad and Tobago at the time. After his identity was revealed, a Lookout Circular (LOC) was issued against him on April 28. Subsequently, a Red Corner Notice was issued through Interpol, under which he was arrested by local agencies. On Wednesday, he was deported to India and brought to Mumbai, where he is being interrogated.
Possibility of More Revelations in the Investigation
The Mumbai Crime Branch is now conducting an in-depth investigation into this case. Officials say that some important clues have been obtained from the accused during the initial interrogation, which indicate that this may not be just a case of ransom but may be linked to a larger network. The police are also investigating whether the accused has any real connection with D-Company or whether he simply used the name to spread fear.
With this arrest, it is believed that many more important revelations related to the case may come to light in the coming days, which may reveal the links between cybercrime and international networks.
