The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), also known as BSPa, has initiated its campaign with an eye on the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Party coordinator, Akash Anand, shared this information via social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
Patna: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has launched its full-fledged campaign for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. The party has formally begun its “Mission Bihar” campaign. National Coordinator and social justice leader, Akash Anand, is now leading this campaign. Participating in the observance of the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj in Patna, Akash Anand not only conveyed a message of social harmony but also clarified that BSP intends to play a significant role in Bihar this time.
Launch of Mission Bihar from Shahuji Maharaj’s Birth Anniversary
BSP commenced its campaign on June 25th through the observance of the birth anniversary of Rajyashri Shahuji Maharaj in Patna. This event is being viewed as a platform to awaken the social rights consciousness of the Dalit, backward, and marginalized communities. On this occasion, Akash Anand paid tribute to the great social reformer and signaled the commencement of “Mission Bihar” via social media platform X (formerly Twitter), writing a heartfelt post.
He wrote: “I pay my heartfelt tributes to Rajyashri Shahuji Maharaj, the great social reformer, the messiah of Dalits and backward classes, and the symbol of justice and equality. His life inspires us to fight for justice and equality for the most vulnerable sections of society.”
Will BSP Contest Elections Alone?
Akash Anand’s statement indicates that BSP is working on a strategy to contest the Bihar elections independently, without aligning with any coalition. There is speculation in political circles that the party may field candidates in all 243 assembly constituencies this time. According to internal sources within the party, BSP’s target is to surpass the double-digit mark, which has been considered a significant achievement for BSP in Bihar’s politics until now. The party also believes it can play a decisive role by capturing the votes of the Dalit, backward, Most Backward, and Muslim communities.
Akash Anand’s Strategy
Akash Anand embodies young leadership and the party is presenting him as the successor to Mayawati. Under his leadership, BSP is planning to connect with youth and students, particularly in Bihar. Through events like the birth anniversary of Shahuji Maharaj, the party aims to connect with the sentiments of the people by placing social justice issues at the forefront.
Akash Anand stated, “It is time for us to walk on the ideals of our great leaders and ensure that no section of society is left marginalized. It is everyone’s responsibility to realize the dream that Shahuji Maharaj had.”
Although BSP has not yet achieved significant success in Bihar, the party’s ground-level presence is continuously strengthening. Particularly in the Seemanchal and Magadh regions, BSP has bolstered its organizational structure. The party believes that disillusioned Dalit and Muslim voters, seeking alternative political options, could gravitate towards BSP.
