A shocking incident unfolded on Thursday evening in the Timarpur area of Delhi, leaving everyone stunned. A 26-year-old man fatally shot his own father following an argument over who would sit in the front seat of a tempo. The deceased has been identified as 60-year-old Surendra Singh, a retired Sub-Inspector from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
The incident occurred around 7:30 PM near MS Block in Timarpur. According to the police, the entire family was preparing to return to their ancestral village in Uttarakhand. They had hired a tempo and were loading their belongings. During this, an argument erupted between Surendra Singh and his son, Deepak, over who would sit in the front seat of the tempo. The argument escalated, and Deepak took out his father's licensed gun and, in a fit of rage, fired the gun.
Surendra fell on the spot after being shot
Police officers on patrol rushed to the scene after hearing the gunshot. They found Surendra Singh lying on the footpath, covered in blood, while people nearby were trying to seize the gun from the accused. Surendra was immediately taken to HRH Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. According to the post-mortem report, he had sustained gunshot wounds to the face and cheek.
The police apprehended the accused, Deepak, from the scene immediately after the incident. During a search, they recovered his father's licensed revolver and 11 live cartridges. A murder case has been registered against him, and the police are conducting a thorough investigation into the entire incident.
Mental condition is also being investigated
According to police sources, the accused, Deepak, had a history of aggressive behavior and had often quarreled with family members. The police are also preparing to investigate his mental condition. Furthermore, they are looking into whether the gun used was licensed and if its use complied with the law.
