India Rejects US Mediation Claims in India-Pakistan Ceasefire

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar stated that the ceasefire between India and Pakistan was a result of direct talks between the DGMOs of both countries, not through any third-party mediation. The US had no role.

India-US: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, speaking in Washington, D.C., once again clearly stated that the recent ceasefire between India and Pakistan was entirely the result of mutual dialogue between the DGMOs (Director Generals of Military Operations) of both countries. He explicitly dismissed any role for the United States or any other third country.

India's Rebuttal to Trump's Claims

Former US President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that he played a significant role in the ceasefire between India and Pakistan. He also stated that he directly intervened to reduce tensions between the two nuclear powers. However, the Indian government has always denied these claims.

Jaishankar's Clear Response

When a journalist in Washington asked the Foreign Minister about the PMO's stance at the time regarding Trump's claims about the ceasefire, Jaishankar responded, "The record of what happened is very clear. The ceasefire was a result of direct talks between the DGMOs of India and Pakistan. Therefore, I will leave the matter at that."

Pakistan's Non-Role in India-US Relations

The journalist also asked whether Pakistan still has any role in India-US relations, especially after Operation Sindoor. In response, Jaishankar clearly stated that India is now a self-reliant country with global influence. He said, "Today, the central element of India-US relations is India and the United States themselves. We are one of the top five economies in the world. We have the largest population, and our global influence is constantly increasing."

No Double Standards on Terrorism

Jaishankar also made clear and b comments on terrorism. He said that the perspective of many countries changes when they themselves become victims of terrorism. "When a country is a victim of terrorism, its attitude is strict, but when the same terrorism is faced by another country, their perspective is different. This is unfortunate and we need to pay attention to it."

Dialogue at the DGMO Level

India has stated on several occasions that no third-party mediation was accepted from Pakistan during or after Operation Sindoor. India had retaliated against several Pakistani airbases on May 9-10. After this, the Pakistani DGMO contacted the Indian DGMO and offered a ceasefire. Following this conversation, both sides agreed to stop the fighting.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri also Confirmed

On June 18, a 35-minute phone conversation took place between PM Narendra Modi and President Trump. Giving information about that conversation, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri also clearly stated that neither was any trade agreement discussed, nor did any proposal for mediation come from the US during this entire event. He said that the talks to stop military action took place through the existing communication channels between the armed forces of both countries, and this initiative came from Pakistan.
