Star Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant made history by scoring a century in both innings of the match and has now reached his career-best Test ranking (7th position). Additionally, young batsman Shubman Gill has also made a significant jump in the rankings, debuting in the top 20 for the first time. There were also notable changes in the rankings of bowlers and all-rounders.
Rishabh Pant’s Double Century – A Historic Achievement
Rishabh Pant, who scored explosive scores of 134 and 118 runs in the Leeds Test, has now become the second wicketkeeper in Test cricket history to score two centuries in a single match. Zimbabwe’s Andy Flower was the only other player to achieve this feat previously. Thanks to this impressive performance, Pant has now climbed to 7th position in the ICC Test batsman rankings, his career-best ranking to date. Pant’s current form could be crucial for India in upcoming Test series, particularly when the team needs stability in the middle order.
Shubman Gill’s Rise, Entry into Top-20
Shubman Gill, who had smashed a brilliant century in the first innings of the Leeds Test, has been rewarded with a five-place jump. Gill is now ranked 20th in the ICC Test rankings, his best ranking to date. Gill has consistently proven himself in the Test format and is becoming an important pillar of the Indian Test lineup.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, India’s third-ranked batsman, is currently in 4th position. Jaiswal also showcased his stability and class by scoring a century in the first innings of the Leeds Test.
Jasprit Bumrah Dominates Among Fast Bowlers
Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah took five wickets in both innings of the Leeds Test, securing his 14th five-wicket haul and maintaining his position as the top-ranked bowler in the ICC Test rankings. He once again proved that he is one of the best Test pacers in the world. Despite England scoring 82 runs in 371 overs to win the match, led by Ben Duckett’s 62 and 149 runs, Duckett earned the ‘Player of the Match’ award and climbed five places to 8th position.
His teammate Ollie Pope also jumped three places to 19th, while Jemmy Smith secured 27th position after climbing eight places.

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja remains in the number 1 position in the ICC Test all-rounders rankings. England captain Ben Stokes also performed well with both bat and ball, making a three-place jump and now ranking 5th. Mushfiqur Rahim of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh climbed 11 places after scoring 163 runs in the galle test match and now ranks 28th. Nezamul Hussain Shanto climbed 21 places after scoring two centuries in a single test and now holds 29th position.
