Delhi News: Political tensions are escalating in Delhi between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). After AAP accused the BJP of attempting to buy their candidates, the BJP denied the allegations and filed a complaint with the Lieutenant Governor (LG). Subsequently, the LG ordered the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) to investigate the matter.
BJP Files Complaint Against AAP Leaders
BJP state general secretary Vishnu Mittal filed a complaint with the LG against AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal and MP Sanjay Singh. He demanded that the ACB or another agency investigate the allegations and file an FIR against them. The BJP claims these accusations are baseless and part of a political conspiracy.
Sanjay Singh Accuses BJP of Vote-Buying
AAP MP Sanjay Singh made a significant claim during a press conference on Friday. He alleged that the BJP is attempting to buy seven AAP candidates by offering them ₹15 crore each. Sanjay Singh stated,
"The BJP is losing the election, so it has reactivated 'Operation Lotus'. "
BJP Responds: 'AAP is Making False Allegations'
Responding to these allegations, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said that Chief Minister Atishi has made similar false accusations in the past. He stated that the BJP has filed a case in the High Court against these allegations, which is currently pending. He warned Sanjay Singh that if he doesn't apologize for his statement, legal action will be taken against him.
Kejriwal Targets BJP
AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Atishi targeted the BJP on X (formerly Twitter). They alleged that the exit polls released by the BJP are fake. Kejriwal said,
"If fake exit polls show the BJP winning 55 seats, why are they offering ₹15 crore each to buy our 16 MLAs?"
ACB Launches Investigation on LG's Instructions
BJP state general secretary Vishnu Mittal met with the Lieutenant Governor, requesting that the Aam Aadmi Party's allegations be taken seriously and investigated. The Lieutenant Governor promptly ordered the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) to conduct a timely investigation.
