Andhra Pradesh: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has granted recognition to the Jana Sena Party, led by Andhra Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister and party chief, Pawan Kalyan. Jana Sena is now included in the list of recognized parties, and has been allotted the 'Glass' as its election symbol.
100% Success in 2024 Assembly Elections
In the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections held last year (2024), Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena Party achieved a historic victory. The party contested all 21 Assembly seats and 2 Lok Sabha seats in the state and won them all. This win set a major record in the state's history.
Official Recognition from the Election Commission
The Election Commission has now officially recognized the Jana Sena Party in Andhra Pradesh and issued it an election symbol. The Election Commission confirmed this recognition by sending a letter to Pawan Kalyan, the party chief.
Pawan Kalyan's Political Journey
Pawan Kalyan founded his party, Jana Sena, in 2014. Prior to this, his elder brother, Chiranjeevi, formed the 'Praja Rajyam Party' in 2008, appointing Pawan as the 'Yuvarajyam' president. However, in 2011, Chiranjeevi joined the Congress party, prompting Pawan to take a break from politics and pursue his own path.
Support for BJP and TDP
In 2014, Pawan formed his Jana Sena Party and met with Narendra Modi. He sought Modi's support on issues concerning Telugu states and supported Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party (TDP), but did not participate in the elections himself. He opposed the Congress government in the state and campaigned for Naidu. During Naidu's rule, Pawan appealed to the public to cooperate with the government for the development of Amaravati and Polavaram.
