Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has launched a scathing attack on Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav, referencing an old incident in connection with an attack on the Agra residence of SP Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Lal Suman. Mayawati shared her reaction on the social media platform X.
Lucknow: Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has launched a sharp attack on Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav. Using the attack on SP MP Ramji Lal Suman's Agra home as a springboard, she reminded Yadav of a 30-year-old incident. Mayawati stated that the SP chief should repent for the life-threatening attack on her during the 1995 Lucknow State Guest House incident.
Mayawati's Social Media Onslaught
Reacting on the social media site X (formerly Twitter), Mayawati wrote, "Along with the Agra incident, the SP chief should also remember and repent for the life-threatening attack orchestrated by his party against me at the Lucknow State Guest House on June 2, 1995."
She accused the SP of using the Agra incident to further its political agenda, stating that the party should stop "baking its political bread" under the guise of this event. Mayawati alleged that the SP is using the Agra incident as a pretext to mistreat the Dalit community.
Accusations of Political Gain
The BSP chief further stated that the SP is engaging in "vile politics" by using Dalit leaders for its own political interests. She urged the Dalit community to be wary of the SP's "tactics." Mayawati termed the Agra incident as "extremely concerning," asserting that the SP should not attempt to gain political mileage by insulting any community. She accused the SP of orchestrating the Agra incident as a conspiracy against the Dalit community.
What is the Entire Matter?
The attack on the Agra residence of SP Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Lal Suman has created a political uproar. The SP alleges a political conspiracy behind the attack, while BSP chief Mayawati has termed it an SP "political ploy." The attack on Mayawati at the Lucknow State Guest House on June 2, 1995, is known in Indian politics as the "Guest House incident." At that time, the BSP withdrew support from the SP, following which SP workers forcibly entered the guest house and assaulted Mayawati.
Focus on the Dalit Community Amidst Political Struggle
Mayawati accused the SP of exploiting the Dalit community for its political gain. Attacking Akhilesh Yadav over the Agra incident, she stated that the Dalit community needs to be wary of the SP's conspiracies. There has been no response from Akhilesh Yadav to this statement yet. However, Mayawati's sharp attack has heated up Uttar Pradesh's political climate. The escalating tension between the two parties suggests that the state's political landscape is likely to become even more heated in the coming days.
