Himachal Pradesh Government to Recruit Field Staff for Electricity Board; CM Sukhu Announces Uhl Stage-3 Project Inauguration and Power Generation.
Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government has announced a large-scale recruitment drive for field staff at HPSEBL (Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited). Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, during a review meeting of the Energy Department, stated that thousands of vacancies will be filled soon to ensure the smooth functioning of the board.
Option for Permanent Adjustment by April 30
CM Sukhu instructed officials to offer officers on deputation in HPPTCL and other corporations the option of permanent postings by April 30. Vacancies remaining thereafter will be filled on a priority basis.
Uhl Stage-3 Hydropower Project's Inauguration Imminent
The Chief Minister also announced the imminent inauguration of the 100-megawatt Uhl Stage-3 project. The project, damaged in 2020 due to a penstock burst, has been restored and has already generated 2.97 crore units of electricity.
Revenue Generation of ₹200 Crore Expected
Upon reaching full capacity, the project will generate approximately 392 million units of electricity annually, generating approximately ₹200 crore in revenue for the state.
Significant Shortage of Field Staff
The state currently faces a reported shortage of 11,000 field staff. The government is committed to addressing this shortage quickly. The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, Energy Director Rakesh Prajapati, and Managing Director of the Electricity Board, Sandeep Kumar.
