4,000 Jharkhand Teachers Issued Show Cause Notices for Failing to Register for TNA Exam

Jharkhand: The Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) has issued show cause notices to 4,000 teachers who failed to register for the Teachers' Need Assessment (TNA) exam. The State Project Director, Shashi Ranjan, has directed all District Education Officers to review these cases at the district level and submit a report within three days explaining the reasons for non-registration.

TNA Exam: What is its Purpose?

The TNA exam will be conducted in Jharkhand for the first time between April 24 and 28, 2025. A total of 110,444 government teachers were expected to participate, but only 106,093 registered. This means 96% of teachers registered, while 4% delayed registration. The TNA aims to measure teachers' capabilities and ensure their professional development, as outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Why is the TNA Exam Important?

The TNA exam will evaluate teachers' subject expertise, pedagogical knowledge, and professional standards. The exam will focus on five key areas:

  • Subject Expertise
  • Pedagogical Knowledge
  • General Pedagogy
  • Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation
  • Teacher Attitudes and Professional Competencies

Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Education Minister Ramdas Soren launched the TNA online on February 28, 2025. This exam will be held twice a year (April and October).

What are the Next Steps?

Registration for the TNA exam is mandatory for all teachers. Those who have not yet registered must submit their reports to the concerned authorities immediately. This exam presents a valuable opportunity for teachers to strengthen their professional skills and deliver better education.
