AIMIM has suffered a major political setback in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh. Aruna Upadhyay, a female corporator of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has resigned from the party.
AIMIM: AIMIM (All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen) has received a significant political blow in the Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh. Aruna Upadhyay, a female leader of the party and a municipal corporator, has resigned, citing personal and family reasons. She has clearly stated that she will now serve the public without any political constraints.
Aruna Upadhyay has sent her resignation to the head of AIMIM, Asaduddin Owaisi, and the Madhya Pradesh in-charge, announcing the termination of all ties with the party. This decision by Aruna Upadhyay, who was elected as a corporator from Ward No. 2 on an AIMIM ticket in the 2022 municipal elections, is considered a major loss for the party, as AIMIM was trying to expand its reach in a city like Khargone.
Serious allegations against husband
During her resignation, Aruna Upadhyay made serious allegations against her husband, Shyamlal Upadhyay. She said that for the past two years, her husband has been mentally harassing her. According to the allegations, her husband was repeatedly pressuring her by claiming that she had converted her religion and was inciting others to do the same.
Aruna Upadhyay clarified that her husband was pressuring her to resign from the corporator position, but she decided not to betray the public's trust. She said that she was elected by the mandate of the people, and she was not willing to break the trust of the people simply due to family pressure.
Decision to move out of political pressure
Along with her resignation from the party, Aruna Upadhyay has also separated herself from the AIMIM's state core committee. She said that after becoming a corporator, the party included her in the state core committee, but now she does not want to be under any political constraints or pressure. In her resignation letter, she clearly wrote that she does not want to work under the party's ideology or political agenda.
Her intention now is only to work freely for the public. She has sent a letter to the AIMIM's national office in Hyderabad, ending all her ties with the party. Although Aruna Upadhyay has resigned from AIMIM, she has not resigned from her corporator position. She says that she will continue to work on the development of her ward as an independent corporator.
She assured that she will prioritize every issue of the public and will not let any shortcomings come in her service work. She said, "I will not be with any political party now. My main objective is only the service of the public and the development of the ward. I have won the election on the trust of the public, and I will not let that trust be broken."
A big political loss for AIMIM
This resignation is considered a political setback for AIMIM in an area like Khargone. The party was trying to gradually establish its foothold in Madhya Pradesh. In such a situation, Aruna Upadhyay's separation from the party can affect both AIMIM's organizational expansion and strategy. Faces like Aruna Upadhyay were building a b base for the party at the local level, but now, after her leaving the party, AIMIM may have to make a fresh strategy.
After her resignation, Aruna Upadhyay told the media, "I have taken this decision after careful consideration. I came into politics to serve the public, not to get entangled in family disputes. Now, I will not be in any political bondage."
