The Election Commission has stated that out of a total of 7,89,69,844 voters, forms from 6,81,67,861 voters have been received. The last date for submitting forms is set for July 25. Plans are underway to personally contact those who have not yet filled out the forms.

90.84% Applications Received

The Election Commission, in a press release, stated that the process of updating the voter list in the state is progressing rapidly. According to the Commission, after removing deceased, transferred, and duplicate entries, applications have been received from a total of 90.84% of the voters.

However, only 86.32% of these have submitted their forms online or offline. A special campaign is being launched to reach out to the remaining 9.16% of voters.

1 Lakh BLOs to Contact Voters Door-to-Door

To contact the remaining voters, the Election Commission has deployed approximately 1 lakh BLOs (Booth Level Officers). These officers have started the third phase of door-to-door visits. They will revisit homes where BLOs were unable to find voters previously. The aim is to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the voter list.

Special Camps and Campaigns in Urban Areas

The Election Commission has organized special camps in all 261 Urban Local Bodies in the state. These camps are being set up in a total of 5,683 wards to provide information to voters and encourage them to fill out forms.

In addition, awareness campaigns are being run through newspapers and media so that people can complete the nomination process within the stipulated time frame.

Draft Voter List to be Released on August 1

The Election Commission stated that special efforts are being made to include all eligible voters in the final voter list. The goal of this campaign is to get maximum forms submitted by July 25. The draft voter list will be published on August 1. After this, another phase of corrections and claims-objections will begin.

Documents Required to Get a Vote

Voters need an Aadhaar card, address proof, and a passport-size photo to fill out the nomination form. BLOs will assist people in this process and will verify the documents onsite to ensure the validity of the form.

Special Focus on Youth and New Voters

This time, the Election Commission is paying special attention to including new voters who have completed the age of 18 years in the list. Camps are also being set up in colleges and educational institutions so that young people can fill out the forms in time.
