Assam Congress Demands Probe into Mysterious Death of Woman in Uttarakhand

Gaurav Gogoi, President of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), has written to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, demanding an immediate and impartial investigation into the mysterious death of a woman from Assam.

Gaurav Gogoi: The discovery of a young woman's body on the banks of the Ganga river in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, has caused a sensation. The deceased has been identified as Rosmita Hojai from Dima Hasao district, Assam. Rosmita's mysterious death has not only deeply shocked her family but has also created ripples in political circles.

Assam Pradesh Congress President and Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi, in a b yet emotional letter to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, has demanded an immediate, impartial, and transparent investigation into the matter.

Rosmita, who had gone to take a railway exam, found dead under mysterious circumstances on the Ganga bank

According to reports, Rosmita Hojai had gone to Delhi to take the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) exam. After the exam, she left Delhi for Rishikesh with two unknown individuals. She went missing on June 6th and her body was recovered from the banks of the Ganga river five days later. This tragic incident has caused widespread concern and outrage in Assam.

In his letter, Assam Congress President Gaurav Gogoi wrote that the death of a promising student after her disappearance is extremely tragic. This incident is not just about one individual but raises concerns about the safety of thousands of young people who travel to other states in search of education or careers. Gogoi requested CM Dhami to personally look into the matter and ensure that there is no negligence in the investigation.

Gogoi urges a thorough investigation connecting all aspects of the case

Gogoi clearly stated in the letter that this incident cannot be considered accidental. The investigation should not only focus on how the young woman died but also determine the circumstances under which she reached Rishikesh with two strangers, her purpose of visit, and any pre-existing connections. He urged the police and investigating agencies to conduct thorough interrogations of all individuals involved and scrutinize all digital footprints, hotel records, CCTV footage, and call details.

Gogoi also reminded the Uttarakhand government in his letter that timely action is crucial in providing some relief to the victim's family. Rosmita's family and community deserve justice, which is possible only with transparency and speed in the investigation.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also expresses concern

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has also taken the matter seriously and written a separate letter to Uttarakhand CM Dhami. He stated that if any criminal involvement is found, the culprits should be immediately arrested and stringent legal action should be taken against them. Sarma also demanded that a coordinating officer sent by the Assam government be included in the investigation.

This incident has also raised questions about the functioning of the Uttarakhand Police and the Rishikesh administration. The initial investigation by the local police initially treated it as a normal accident, but now, with state and national-level leaders actively involved, the direction of the investigation seems to be shifting towards murder or conspiracy.
